A valve system having a valve position indicator is disclosed. The valve position indicator allows for viewing of the valve position from one or more viewing locations. In one example, the valve position indicator includes a side valve open/close indicator and a top valve open/close indicator on a valve assembly. An indicator locking mechanism securely locks the valve position indicator in alignment with a position of a control valve.

Method for determining the degree of wear of a valve, and apparatus for carrying out said method

Disclosed is a method for determining the degree of wear of a valve, the degree of wear of the valve being dependent on the degree of wear of an operating element that is made of an expandable material and performs a mechanical movement each time the temperature changes, the change in temperature resulting in wear, the operating element made of an expandable material being mechanically connected to a piston; the movements of the operating element (3) made of an expandable material are calculated by initially sensing the change in temperature on the operating element (3), whereupon the changes in temperature are recalculated as movements on the basis of the temperature/expansion curve applicable to the operating element (3) made of an expandable material.

Data-driven unsupervised algorithm for analyzing sensor data to detect abnormal valve operation

A computer-implemented method, system, and computer program product are provided. A plurality of maintenance messages (MMSGs) are identified. Each MMSG is associated with at least one shut-off valve. A sensor parameter is identified based on an analysis of sensor parameters associated with the shut-off valves of each MMSG. A threshold value for the sensor parameter is identified as being associated with abnormal operation of the respective shut-off valves. A sensor associated with a first shut-off valve captures values for the sensor parameter during a first and second predefined time period, the first and second predefined time periods associated with an opening and a closing of the first shut-off valve. Upon determining that a difference between the maximum values of the sensor values captured during the first and second predefined time periods exceeds the first threshold value, a determination is made that the first shut-off valve is operating abnormally.

Bonnet vent attachment

A valve system includes a bellows-type pressure relief valve and an attachment assembly. The bellows-type pressure relief valve includes a main housing defining a main chamber, an inlet opening, and an outlet opening, a bonnet housing defining a bonnet chamber and a bonnet vent in the bonnet housing, and a bellows structure defining a bellows chamber fluidly connected to the bonnet chamber. The attachment assembly is coupled to the bonnet vent to selectively plug the bonnet vent. The attachment assembly include a coupling to couple to the bonnet vent, a pressure sensor to detect a pressure in the bonnet chamber, and a vent structure including a vent valve to selectively open in response to an applied force or in response to the pressure sensor detecting a pressure in the bonnet chamber reaching a pressure threshold.

A valve operating device includes a base having a housing thereon. A motor, a motor controller unit, and a human machine interface controller are disposed in the housing. A display device mounted on top of the housing is controlled by the human interface controller to display control screens and receive user input. The operator controls operation of the device at a home control screen, which displays information regarding the exercise of the valve as it is acquired. Data configuration and storage functions are controlled via a valve data record screen and identifier screens accessible from the home control screen.

Setup of valve controller

A valve controller for controlling a valve and a valve comprising the valve controller are disclosed. The valve has an actuator and a flow controlling unit. The valve controller is configured to execute a setup process and comprises a first pilot valve that can energize the actuator by allowing a first pressurized fluid to enter the actuator and de-energizing the actuator by allowing the fluid to leave the actuator. The valve controller further has an input device by which the setup process can be initiated, and a memory unit for storing setup parameter values. The setup process comprises: determining parameter values indicative of the functionality of at least one of the valve controller, the actuator and the flow controlling unit, and storing the parameter values as setup parameter values in the memory unit.

Gas alarm and safety system and method

A system which detects gas leaks near devices which use “natural gas” or other flammable gases such as methane, ethane, propane or butane and implements multiple automatic responses to the detection of such leaks including emitting audible alarms, contacting utility and emergency service providers, and shutting off the flow of the flammable gases is disclosed. Optional to the system allowing the system to report on the approximate location of the leak and/or the approximate danger level caused by the leak by reporting on the gas/air ratios in the area are also disclosed. A method for implementing the method of the invention is also disclosed.

A method for monitoring a device for regulating the flow of a gas, the device having a flow conduit and a shutter assembly that defines a restriction in the flow conduit. The method includes: causing the transit of gas through the flow conduit; defining a sequence of time intervals (Z1 . . . Zn) of corresponding durations (t1 . . . tn); during each time interval, determining a value of density and a value of velocity of the gas at the restriction; calculating the product of the value of density, of the value of velocity, of the duration of the time interval and of a correction coefficient to obtain a corresponding value of equivalent wear; for each time interval, adding all the values of equivalent wear calculated for the current time interval and for the preceding time intervals to obtain a cumulative value; comparing the cumulative values with a predefined limit value, corresponding to a condition of maximum wear allowable for the shutter assembly, to obtain an indication of the condition of efficiency of the shutter assembly.
