TUBULAR STRING MAKE-UP METHODS UTILIZING IMAGE PROCESSING

A method of making-up tubular string components can include inputting to an image processor image data output from at least one camera, the image processor in response detecting positions of a tubular and a mark on another tubular, threading the tubulars with each other while inputting position data from the image processor to a controller, and the controller terminating the threading in response to the position of the mark relative to the position of the first tubular being within a predetermined range. Another method of making-up tubular string components can include, in response to inputting image data to an image processor, the image processor detecting longitudinal positions of two tubulars, threading the tubulars with each other, and a controller terminating the threading in response to the longitudinal position of one tubular relative to the longitudinal position of the other tubular being within a predetermined range.

SEAMLESS PIPE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME

The seamless pipe in which a thin-walled portion in a pipe circumferential direction is formed in a pipe axial direction, in which a line segment formed by connecting one end and the other end of the thin-walled portion along a pipe surface with a shortest distance in a formation direction of the thin-walled portion is inclined at an angle α of 5.0° or more with respect to the pipe axial direction. It is preferable that one end and the other end of the thin-walled portion are set from a region in a pipe selected with a shorter length between a length of 1.0 m in the pipe axial direction and 90% of a length in the pipe axial direction where the thin-walled portion turns once in the pipe circumferential direction.

Leak-Resistant Threaded Pipe Connection

A leak-resistant pipe connection has an annular seal bulge on a pin end of the connection and a tapered seal area adjacent a secondary box shoulder of a box end of the connection. The annular seal bulge is coined on contact with the tapered seal area on initial make-up of the connection which provides a metal-to-metal seal that is very resistant to high-pressure fluid leakage even after the connection is subjected to extreme shear and tensile stresses.

Threaded connection for tubular component

A threaded connection includes a first and a second tubular component made up one with the other. A male element of the first component includes, on its external peripheral surface, a male inner lip including an inner mg with a minimum thickness Epi and a male threaded zone. One inner end of the male threaded zone is at a non-zero axial distance (Li) from a male distal end. A female element of the second component includes, in succession over its internal peripheral surface, a female inner recess disposed facing the male inner lip and a female threaded zone, such that in the made up position of the connection, a radial clearance subsists between the male inner ring and the female inner recess and an internal seal is formed locally between the male inner lip and the female inner recess. The connection is such that 10%≤Epi/Li.

Integral expanded upset

An improved upset connection for use in the oilfield having an external upset integral connection improving on the existing standard connections, wherein a standard upset connection is expanded creating internal and external shoulders at both the male and female connections, and wherein the external shoulder at the female connection also has an external bevel.

Hybrid thread geometry for threaded fitting

A threaded fitting comprising a first plurality of threads from a first end of the fitting to a transition thread and a second plurality of threads from the transition thread to a second end of the fitting. The first plurality of threads is configured to provide a labyrinth type seal minimizing the migration of at least dust and/or gases across a thick-walled enclosure. The second plurality of threads is configured to engage a lock-nut in thin-walled enclosures, or a plurality of pre-formed threads within an aperture of thick-walled enclosures, for minimizing the migration of at least fluids/water across one of the thin- or thick-walled enclosure. The first and second plurality of threads are serially-arranged and may be used either thin or thick-walled enclosures to retard a passage of at least one of either gas, fluid, dust and flame.

The invention relates to a scaling device (100) between two pipes (10, 20), each pipe comprising an internal coating (RI10, RI20) which is made from a material resistant to corrosion and/or abrasion, characterised in that the device (100) comprises at least one sealing line (L2, L2′) formed by a circumferential groove (12), which is made in the internal coating (RI10, RI20) of one of the two pipes (10, 20), receiving a circumferential protuberance (22) which is made in the internal coating (RI10, RI20) of the other of the two pipes (10, 20), the protuberance (22) being configured to mechanically interfere radially with the groove (12) over at least one circumferential zone (Z2, Z′2).

Threaded connection for steel pipe

A threaded connection with good internal-pressure and external-pressure sealability while preventing galling is provided. A threaded connection 1 includes a pin 10 and a box 20. The pin 10 includes a pin lip 11, a pin metal seal 13, and a cylindrical inner machined surface 14. The pin metal seal 13 includes a pin seal taper surface 16 and a pin seal curvature surface 17. The box 20 includes a box metal seal 22 parallel to the pin seal taper surface 16. The pin metal seal 13 sealingly contacts the box metal seal 22 at a seal point SP. The threaded connection satisfies the following expressions, (1) and (2),
L>Lm>Ls  (1), and
tb/tp>1.6  (2).
L is the length of the pin lip 11; Lm is the distance between the tip AP of the pin and the end point of the cylindrical inner machined surface 14; Ls is the distance between the tip AP of the pin 10 and the seal point SP; tb is the wall thickness of the box 20 as measured at the seal point SP when the connection is made up; and tp is the wall thickness of the pin 10 as measured at the seal point SP.
