Stovetop fire suppressor with shuttle actuator and method
11648428 · 2023-05-16 · ·

An automatic stovetop fire suppressor is activated by a shuttle actuator. The self-contained and closed container device provides a gradual release of a fire suppressing agent in a desired distribution pattern. A method of reliable and spatial agent release are provided herein. A plastic cone shaped lid seals on the bottom of a can and forms a closed container. The closed container is filled with a fire suppressing agent. An initiator charge is housed external to the container of fire suppressing agent and is fuse activated. The activated charge displaces the shuttle. As the shuttle displaces, vertical support for the bottom cone lid is removed and a compression spring breaks a circumferential seal between the bottom lid and container cylindrical sidewall and lowers the bottom lid exposing a radial opening. Fire suppressing agent flows out of the radial opening, suppressing a stovetop fire.

An automatic stovetop fire suppressor with suppressor activation triggering an audible alert of a fire condition and method are provided herein. A plastic bottom lid is secured to a bottom of a can, forming a closed container. A fire suppressing agent and a sound board are housed within the closed container. As the fire suppressor actuator is triggered, the bottom lid lowers releasing the fire suppressing agent and tripping a sound board alert switch. A microcontroller generates a desired fire condition signal which is played across a low voltage magnetic transducer. The suppressor is user friendly, provides an automated release of fire suppressing agent in the presence of a stovetop fire, and emits a continuing audible alert signal until a user disables the same. The fire suppressing agent and battery powered sound board are stored in the closed from manufactured end to activation of the suppressor in a fire condition.

FIRE PROTECTION AND SUPPRESSION APPARATUS, MATERIALS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF

Fire protection and suppression apparatus, materials, systems and methods of use thereof are disclosed. In fire extinguishing applications, a convergent-divergent nozzle is incorporated into a pyrotechnic aerosol generator to improve the discharge characteristics when combined with air induction, reduced quantity of cooling media, and re-shaped agent/combustion chamber for longer discharge duration. In fire extinguishing applications, aerosol extinguishing agent in sheets, panels or other forms can be placed inside an enclosure that may have a fire. Once initiated, the aerosol extinguishing material will burn to create and directly disperse the aerosol particulate that can extinguish the fire. Initiation of the aerosol agent can be by flames or heat from an unwanted fire. Alternative methods of initiation include electric initiators that are signaled by automatic fire detection systems, electric manual methods, or mechanical/thermal initiators.

BATTERY MODULE, BATTERY RACK COMPRISING SAME BATTERY MODULE, AND POWER STORAGE DEVICE COMPRISING SAME BATTERY RACK

A battery module includes at least one battery cell; and a module case configured to accommodate the at least one battery cell, wherein a fire extinguishing agent supply channel connected to a fire extinguishing tank containing a fire extinguishing agent to directly inject the fire extinguishing agent into the module case when a thermal runaway or fire occurs at the at least one battery cell is provided to an inside of at least one side of the module case.
