High nitrogen and other inert gas anti-corrosion protection in wet pipe fire protection system

A wet pipe fire protection sprinkler system and method of operating a wet pipe fire sprinkler system includes providing a sprinkler system having a pipe network, a source of water for the pipe network, at least one sprinkler head connected with the pipe network and a drain valve for draining the pipe network. An inert gas source, such as a nitrogen gas source, is connected with the pipe network. Inert gas is supplied from the inert gas source to the pipe network. Water is supplied to the pipe network thereby substantially filling the pipe network with water and compressing the inert gas in the pipe network.

Sensor reservoir with probe to monitor, measure, and control fire sprinkler and other systems and method of constructing and using the same
10166420 · 2019-01-01 · ·

A sensor assembly having a sensor reservoir with probe for fire sprinkler and other systems to monitor and measure the internal characteristics of a pipe system wherein the sensor reservoir is directly connected to the pipe system, allowing the sensor reservoir to fill with the fluid contents of that system and to have a probe be in direct contact with the fluid contents of that system without altering the fluid flow dynamic within the piped system. The probe can transmit data to a controller and, based upon programmed criteria, interact with other devices, e.g., if the temperature probe reports a low temperature of the internal fluid characteristics, the controller can activate a heater linked to the controller so that pipes or sprinkler heads will be further resistant to freezing or other compromising conditions.

FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A vehicle fire suppression system includes a centralized controller, a detecting circuit, a releasing circuit, and a processor in communication with a monitoring circuit. The detecting circuit is coupled to the centralized controller and configured to indicate a detection of a fire. The releasing circuit includes an actuating device coupled to the centralized controller through an output bus. The actuating device is coupled to a supply of fire fighting agent. The centralized controller is configured to activate the actuating device to release the fire fighting agent to address the fire in response to the detection of the fire. The processor and the monitoring circuit are configured to determine if there is a fault in at least one of the detecting circuit and the releasing circuit.

CPVC SPRINKLER ASSEMBLY WITH SUPPORT MEMBER

A sprinkler assembly that includes a deflector assembly that translates with respect to the sprinkler frame upon actuation of the sprinkler from an unactuated state. The sprinkler frame includes a support member having an annular member spaced from the outlet to limit or control the axial translation of the deflector assembly relative to the outlet. Moreover, the annular member includes a region to support a closure assembly and thermally responsive trigger assembly under a fluid static load. A cover plate assembly includes a flexible annular wall to allow the cover plate assembly to be pushed on and held about the annular member of the sprinkler frame.

Multi-head array fire sprinkler system

A fire suppression system in which the water supply line (108) is fitted with repeating arrays of sprinkler heads (102, 106). Each array is substantially identical and is composed of two side-discharge sprinklers (106) and one vertical-discharge sprinkler (102). The side-discharge sprinklers (106) in each array are aimed so that their coverage areas point in opposite directions. The trigger (109) for the vertical-discharge sprinkler (102) has a lower activation temperature (T.sub.v) than the activation temperatures (T.sub.h) of the side-discharge sprinklers (106) so that the vertical-discharge sprinkler (102) will activate earlier than either of the side-discharge sprinklers (106). The vertical-discharge sprinkler (102) may include a heat collector (104) to facilitate early activation of its trigger (109). The fire suppression system and method harness the working power of working of multiple orientations of fire sprinklers to produce, in effect, a super fire sprinkler system and method.

A fire sprinkler head (12) has a valve (42) with an X-brace latch (54), and includes a flexible conduit (14). A sprinkler nozzle (16) is secured to a first end of the flexible conduit (14). The sprinkler nozzle (16) includes a first fitting (28), a sprinkler orifice (20) and fusible element (22). A second fitting (40) is secured to the second end of the flexible conduit (14) and includes the valve (42). The valve (42) has a valve element (44) which is moveable from a latched position to an unlatched position. A flexible link (56) extends from the sprinkler nozzle (16) to the X-brace valve latch (54). Breaking of the fusible element (22) releases the flexible link (56) to move from the latched position to the unlatched position, releasing the valve (42) for flow there-through.

Self-recharging fire sprinkler system

An electronic device may monitor a rate of change of water pressure associated with a charged fire sprinkler system. The electronic device may determine whether the rate of change of the water pressure is greater than a threshold. The electronic device may, in response to determining that the rate of change of the water pressure is not greater than the threshold, initiate a system recharge in which a fire pump of the fire sprinkler system is activated to attempt to recharge the water pressure. Other embodiments may be disclosed and/or claimed.
