Expansion joint

The invention relates to an expansion joint (1) for joining two adjacent parts of a pipe. The expansion joint (1) comprises an expansion bellows (5), an expanded wall (2) and an inner sleeve assembly (8). The expanded wall (2) comprises a first wall part (3) and a second wall part (4), wherein the first wall part (3) and the second wall part (4) are spaced apart from each other axially by an axial gap. The expansion bellows (5) is connected to the first wall part (3) and to the second wall part (4) such that the axial gap between the first wall part (3) and the second wall part (4) is closed and such that the first wall part (3) and the second wall part (4) are connected flexibly. The expanded wall (2) and the inner sleeve assembly (8) limit at least one sealed chamber (9, 10) between each other, and the at least one sealed chamber (9, 10) is filled by a first gas.

Disclosed are a flexible pipe and a manufacturing method thereof. The flexible pipe includes an outer bellows formed in a corrugated tubular shape with mountains and valleys, an inner bellows formed in a corrugated tubular shape with mountains and valleys and provided inside the outer bellows, a pair of flanges connected to both ends of the outer bellows and the inner bellows, respectively, and a detection unit for checking whether leakage occurs due to damage or breakage of the outer and inner bellows by detecting an amount of oxygen present in an air having an atmospheric pressure and filled in an atmospheric space between the outer and inner bellows. Leakage due to damage or breakage of the outer and inner bellows can be detected based on variation in the amount of oxygen present in the space between the outer bellows and the inner bellows.

The inner ring is configured to receive a pipe therethrough. The pipe has an outer diameter, which is smaller than the inner diameter of the inner ring. The bellows of the sealing system has a first length in a first position and second length in a second position. Upon axial expansion of the pipe, the bellows is configured to move from the first position to the second position. The sealing system may also comprise a mechanical protective element, such as a shroud which extends around the bellows. Movement of the bellows can be further limited with rods extending from the shroud to a surrounding substrate or a cable fixing a maximum distance between the pipe and the shroud.

A system for equalizing a pressure in an ionization chamber of a radiation device is provided. The system may include the ionization chamber including: a chamber housing including one or more chamber walls; a chamber volume inside the chamber housing, the chamber volume being filled with a radiation sensitive material; and a pressure adjustment apparatus operably coupled to the chamber volume via at least one wall of the one or more chamber walls, the pressure adjustment apparatus being configured to equalize a first pressure of the radiation sensitive material inside the chamber volume and a second pressure of ambient air outside the chamber housing.
