Hybrid high temperature insulation
According to one aspect, a hybrid high temperature thermal insulation includes a mix of inorganic granules. The granular mix includes at least 70 weight percent porous inorganic granules in the form of expanded perlite, and at most 30 weight percent second porous inorganic granules other than expanded perlite. The hybrid insulation also includes a binder. In example formulations, the second porous inorganic particles may be made from crushed aerogel, from fumed silica, from precipitated silica, or from other substances. The hybrid insulation may be formed into preferred shapes, for example a board shape or a semi-cylindrical shape configured to fit over a round tube of a predetermined diameter.
EXTERIOR CLADDING FOR INSULATION SYSTEMS
Some embodiments of the present technology may encompass pipe insulation systems. The insulation systems may include an insulation member having an inner surface and an outer surface. The insulation systems may include a protective cladding having an interior surface and an exterior surface. The interior surface of the protective cladding may be disposed about the outer surface of the insulation member. The interior surface of the protective cladding may include an embossed texture formed from a plurality of protruding features and a plurality of recessed features. The plurality of protruding features may extend at least 0.02 mm beyond the plurality of recessed features.
EXTERIOR CLADDING FOR INSULATION SYSTEMS
Some embodiments of the present technology may encompass pipe insulation systems. The insulation systems may include an insulation member having an inner surface and an outer surface. The insulation systems may include a protective cladding having an interior surface and an exterior surface. The interior surface of the protective cladding may be disposed about the outer surface of the insulation member. The interior surface of the protective cladding may include an embossed texture formed from a plurality of protruding features and a plurality of recessed features. The plurality of protruding features may extend at least 0.02 mm beyond the plurality of recessed features.

Continuous method for producing pre-insulated piping
A method for the continuous production of pre-insulated piping having an inner metal carrier pipe having an interior surface and an exterior surface and an envelope of foamed insulation surrounding the inner metal carrier pipe exterior surface. A molding apparatus is provided for forming an annulus about a pipe to be insulated into which foam can be injected. The pipe is continuously moved through the apparatus with foaming material being injected into the annulus where it is molded and cured to form a foam insulated pipe. The molding apparatus is a roller-drum having a cylindrical length and a plurality of individual rollers arranged in a series of linearly staggered, circular arrays which define the annulus where the foaming material is cured.
