Electrofusion of Pipe Liners
20210071808 · 2021-03-11 ·

A method of joining together liner sections within a polymer-lined pipe energises an induction coil inside the pipe to spot-heat part of a circumferential interface between the liner sections. This melts and fuses the polymer material locally. The induction coil is then moved along the interface to heat other parts of the interface successively above the melting temperature. An apparatus for performing the method has a power supply for energising the induction coil and a drive system for moving the energised induction coil relative to a body of the apparatus. The apparatus may be configured as a carriage that is movable along the pipe.

Automated pipeline chemical batch treatment
10914427 · 2021-02-09 · ·

A method of automated pipeline chemical batch treatment includes receiving treatment information at a control system of a pipeline. If the treatment information includes an instruction to activate a pump system, the method includes transmitting an activation signal from the control system to the pump system in accordance with the treatment information. The activation signal causes the pump system to pump one or more chemicals from a chemical feed system into the pipeline. If the treatment information includes an instruction to deactivate the pump system, the method includes transmitting a deactivation signal from the control system to the pump system in accordance with the treatment information, wherein the deactivation signal causes the pump system to stop pumping one or more chemicals from the chemical feed system into the pipeline.

Free running pig for pipeline remediation
20210003242 · 2021-01-07 ·

A remediation pig for cleaning a pipeline of wax or paraffin mechanically, with heating, and/or with jetting, comprising a body having an axis, an impeller mounted in the body to receive power from the flowing fluid within the pipeline, wheels mounted on the body for contacting the internal bore of the pipeline, the wheels being powered by the power received from the impeller and being mounted in a skewed position relative to a plane perpendicular to the axis such that as the wheels roll on the internal bore the remediation pig will move along the pipeline.

PIPE SCARIFYING METHOD AND APPARATUS

An apparatus for hydrodemolishing the inside surfaces of an inclined pipe, particularly suited to contiguous pipe sections with access ports between the sections. The fluid supply hose is fed to the hydrodemolition rig inside the pipe from the same side as the winch that controls the movement of the rig. The rig is moved upstream in a scarifying pass, then downstream in a cleaning pass for each section and re-staged at each access port.

Multi-Diameter Foam Pig
20200386362 · 2020-12-10 ·

Embodiments of a multi-diameter foam pig include a first set of radially spaced-apart, longitudinally extending, slots located toward a nose end of the pig and a second set of radially spaced-apart, longitudinally extending, slots located toward a tail end. Each set of slots ends at a band section of the pig so that, together, the two sets of slots do not traverse the entire length of the pig. A standard-length unit version of the foam pig includes only the first set of slots. A set of shorter, intermediate slots, offset in a circumferential direction from the first and second set of slots and partially overlapping those slots, may be included on the band section. Because of the slots, and because of open cell foam, the foam pig decreases or increases in diameter as it enters a different diameter run than the run just traveled.

Light head for use in relining pipes

A light head for use in relining a pipe is disclosed. The light head comprises a proximal end cap, a distal end cap, and at least one body between the proximal end cap and the distal end cap. The proximal end cap also has an air inlet. The body has a longitudinal hole extending from the proximal end cap through the centre of the body towards the distal end cap and at least one air channel extending radially from the longitudinal hole to a radial air outlet. The longitudinal hole is configured to receive air from the air inlet such that in use air from the air inlet passes through the body and exits at the radial air outlet. The body is configured for supporting at least one light emitting diode on the periphery of the body in order to emit light radially from the light head towards the pipe.

CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY EVALUATION TOOL AND METHOD
20200292292 · 2020-09-17 ·

The invention relates to an evaluation tool and method for inspecting the integrity of any physical industry connections (hereinafter fittings). The tool comprises a first component (21) provided with a recess (23) to facilitate its engagement with a fitting to be evaluated (see FIG. 10); and a second component (20) connected to, and moveable relative to, the first component (21). Movement of the second component (20) relative to the first component (21) establishes a measurement between two surfaces (32, 33 in FIG. 10) of a fitting (34) to be evaluated, e.g. between an adjustable ferrule or nut (32) and a fixed part (33) of a fitting (34). The measurement is directly (27, 28), or indirectly, indicative of one or more predetermined connection conditions (e.g. over or under tightening of the adjustable component). The predetermined connection conditions may be read directly from the tool, remotely via an electronic device, or by late cross-referencing against entries in a database.

AUTOMATED PIPELINE CHEMICAL BATCH TREATMENT
20200292136 · 2020-09-17 ·

CUTTER CAPABLE OF CUTTING AWAY OBSTRUCTIONS DISPOSED ON THE INSIDES OF PIPES RANGING IN DIAMETER FROM APPROXIMATELY EIGHT INCHES TO APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN INCHES OR FROM APPROXIMATELY TWELVE INCHES TO APPROXIMIATELY TWENTY-FOUR INCHES

A cutter is provided for cutting through obstructions disposed in the interior of pipes ranging in size from approximately 8 to approximately 15 in diameter or from approximately 12 to approximately 24 in diameter. The cutter has been reduced in size relative to known root cutters to be capable of being used with smaller-diameter pipes, but is sufficiently powerful to cut through obstructions, such as mineral deposits, for example, that known flexible cutters capable of being used with these smaller-diameter pipes are incapable of cutting through.
