Fluid transfer connector and method for controlling the same

The fluid transfer connector includes: a plug including a plug body, the plug body including a fluid channel; a socket including a socket body, the socket body including a fluid channel that communicates with the fluid channel of the plug body when the plug is connected to the socket; and a driving mechanism configured to adjust a distance between the plug body and the socket body. The plug body and the socket body can be stopped by the driving mechanism at an initial position where the plug body and the socket body are spaced from and face each other, a connecting position where the fluid channel of the plug body communicates with the fluid channel of the socket body, and an intermediate position between the initial position and the connecting position.

Disclosed is a VIT apparatus for mitigating APB in a wellbore casing annulus of a HPHT deepwater well. The apparatus includes inner and outer tubes formed of 15Cr-135 martensitic stainless steel having a vacuum space therebetween and a weld formed of high yield strength alloy for joining the inner and outer tubes. A protective weld overlay formed of corrosion resistant alloy is placed over the weld. The weld and the weld overlay are formed so as not to extend into the inner bore. Also disclosed are a process for forming the apparatus, and a system and method for using the apparatus. Multiple apparatus are connected by threaded couplings to form an elongated device that can be placed within a casing within a wellbore to carry fluids from the deepwater well to a surface location. When exposed to HPHT well conditions, the vacuum in the VIT apparatus is not lost.

A method of installing at sea a double-walled preheated undersea pipe for transporting fluids, wherein for each new pipe section to be assembled to a pipe that is already installed at sea: the method involves preheating the inner wall unit element inside the outer wall unit element of the new pipe section; assembling the inner wall unit elements of the new pipe section to the inner wall of the pipe that is already installed at sea; assembling the outer wall unit element of the new pipe section to the outer wall of the pipe that is already installed at sea; lowering the new pipe section into the sea; and repeating the above for other new pipe sections to be assembled so as to prestress the pipe while it is being installed at sea.

The double wall coaxial piping system includes a plurality of pipe assemblies connected together to form a constructed pipe assembly with a first end and a second end. Each pipe assembly has an outer pipe and an inner pipe secured within the outer pipe. The inner pipe of each pipe assembly is continuously connected to the inner pipe of an adjacent pipe assembly in the plurality of pipe assemblies. Each end in the first and second ends of the constructed pipe assembly has a pair of plates coupled to the outer pipe of the pipe assembly at the end of the constructed pipe assembly and a packing layer disposed between the pair of plates.

Fasteners with reduced bacterial harborage points, sealing capabilities, and component protection features

Exemplary embodiments relate to a fastener suitable for industrial tasks. Some embodiments include a sealing surface sized so that an outer surface of a sealing ring is located at approximately the same diameter as the fastener head, thus reducing ingress risk for foreign contaminants. Further embodiments provide a centering pilot to improve sealing consistency and quality. Some embodiments provide an angled flange on the fastener head to lift tightening tools away from the surface to which the fastener is being applied, and to shed liquids readily. The portion of the head that receives the tightening tools may be relatively small (approximately the same diameter as the fastener's threaded shaft) to reduce the risk of over-torquing. A bearing surface of the fastener may be located below the sealing ring (towards the threaded shaft) to prevent the fastener from marring the unsealed surface to which the fastener is being applied.

The present disclosure relates to a connector for medical devices. The connector may have two interfaces facing different planes. The two interfaces may provide access to the connector's core and hub. The hub may be free to rotate relative to the core to increase accessibility and/or angle attachment while maintaining a fluid pathway between the core and the hub.
