Device for supplying an oil tank from a second tank
An evaluation of the oil level of an aircraft engine tank from doses of oil delivered from another tank by a pump can be checked by comparing the evaluation of the volume provided by a sensor associated with the engine tank with an estimation of the volume extracted from the aircraft rank, either by another level sensor associated with this tank, or directly from the control of the pump. This comparison is made by a module capable of notifying staff of the need to check or maintain the device, and in particular to check if the sensor is operating correctly. Application to aeronautics, in particular to devices wherein a single aircraft tank supplies all the engine tanks.
Lubricant filler assembly
A lubricant filler for a lubricant tank of an aircraft engine comprises a filler tube having an upper portion to be disposed outside the volume of the tank and a lower portion to be disposed inside the volume. First and second openings are respectively provided in the upper and lower portions. An oil volume sensor is received in the filler tube through the first opening. A valve is connected to the filler tube and movable between an open position in which the valve provides a fluid connection into the lower portion via the second opening, and a closed position in which the valve blocks the fluid connection into the lower portion via the second opening. A third opening, smaller than both the first and second openings, defined one of: a) through a sidewall of the lower portion of the filler tube to provide a fluid connection between the volume and the lower portion when the lubricant filler assembly is attached to the lubricant tank, and b) through the valve to provide the fluid connection when the lubricant filler assembly is attached to the lubricant tank.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SIZING A CHIP IN ENGINE FLUID
Methods and systems of estimating a size of a chip in engine fluid of an engine are provided. One method comprises detecting the chip at a magnetic chip detector immersed in the engine fluid, burning the chip by Joule heating using a single delivery of electric current through the chip via the first and second terminals of the magnetic chip detector, determining an amount of energy consumed to burn the chip, and estimating the size of the chip based on the amount of energy consumed to burn the chip.
OIL SYSTEM FOR A TURBINE ENGINE
Oil system for a turbomachine, making it possible to continue the supply of oil to the pieces of equipment of the turbomachine in case of occurrence of a fire within the turbomachine, including an oil circuit, at least one oil-consuming piece of equipment, supplied by the oil circuit, a pumping unit, including at least one speed-pilotable electrically driven pump, supplying the oil circuit, and an electronic control unit, configured to pilot the electrically driven pump, wherein the electronic control unit includes two separate logics of piloting the electrically driven pump, and wherein the electronic control unit is configured to pilot the electrically driven pump according to the first logic by default and to switch to the second logic in case of receipt of a signal representative of the presence of a fire or of an overheating.
Oil life of oil in a gearbox of an air turbine starter
A system and method for predicting a remaining oil life of oil in a gearbox of an air turbine starter of a vehicle. The method includes generating a temperature data, generating an environmental data set by an environmental sensor, predicting a remaining oil life based on the temperature data set and the environmental data set and scheduling a maintenance event in response to the prediction of the remaining oil life.
Lubrication pressue control of a power transmission device for helicopter
A transmission device includes a casing accommodating a transmission gear and having an oil sump for retaining oil. The oil in the oil sump flows from a lubrication pump through a lubrication passage and is injected to the transmission gear. A connection portion is provided in a part of the lubrication passage, which part is disposed outside the casing. A direction control valve is provided downstream of the lubrication pump and upstream of the connection portion in the lubrication passage with respect to a flow direction of the oil. The direction control valve is configured to open the lubrication passage when a hydraulic pressure in the lubrication passage exceeds a predetermined value and to close the lubrication passage when the hydraulic pressure is equal to or lower than the predetermined value.
MULTI-ZONE MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR
Magnetic chip detectors and associated for detecting metallic chips in engine fluid of an engine are provided. A magnetic chip detector includes first and second magnetic chip capture zones. The first magnetic chip capture zone includes a first electrically conductive terminal spaced apart from a second electrically conductive terminal to define a first chip-receiving gap therebetween. The second magnetic chip capture zone includes a third electrically conductive terminal and either the second electrically conductive terminal or a fourth electrically conductive terminal to define a second chip-receiving gap therebetween. The magnetic chip detector includes an electric circuit including both the first chip-receiving gap and the second chip-receiving gap. The electric circuit provides an output indicative of a chip detection by one or both of the first magnetic chip capture zone and the second magnetic capture zone.
FILTER WITH METAL DEBRIS SENSOR ASSEMBLY
A filter for filtering particulates from a fluid stream includes a filter element with a filter medium and a metallic debris sensor assembly. The metallic debris sensor assembly includes a core and a coil of electrically-conductive wire. The core has a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion interposed between the first and second ends. The first end is disposed in spaced relationship with the second end such that a measurement area is disposed therebetween. The coil of electrically-conductive wire is wound around the intermediate portion of the core. The core is adapted to generate a magnetic field in the measurement area when an electrical current is passed through the coil. At least a portion of the filter medium of the filter element is disposed within the measurement area. The filter can be incorporated into a wear detection system and used in methods of monitoring.
