Controlling fluid operations for machine systems
Enhanced tools and techniques are disclosed for performing post-lubrication fluid operations and other fluid maintenance operations on the fluid system of a machine. A control module may be provided for initiating post-lubrication fluid operations for regulating temperature of engine components.
Gearbox lubrication system
According to one embodiment, a rotorcraft includes a body, a rotor blade, a drive system that can be operated to rotate the rotor blade, and an emergency valve control unit. The drive system contains a first gearbox assembly, a second gearbox assembly, a first lubrication system that can deliver lubricant to the first gearbox assembly, and a second lubrication system that can deliver lubricant to the second gearbox assembly. The drive system also contains an emergency valve that can be opened to deliver lubricant from the first lubrication system to the second gearbox assembly. The emergency valve control unit can instruct the emergency valve to open.
Emergency lubrication for wind turbine gearboxes
A system for emergency lubrication, with a lubricant pump (113) and with at least one outlet opening (125) for delivering lubricant to at least a first lubrication point (107) of a transmission (101), in particular a transmission of a wind turbine. The system includes a first cavity (203), and the lubricant pump (113) is designed to convey at least some of the lubricant into the first cavity (203). The first cavity (203) is designed to store the lubricant intermediately and to act upon the intermediately stored lubricant with positional energy. In addition, there is a lubricant-conveying connection between the first cavity (203) and the outlet opening (125).
Power transmission gearbox and an aircraft
A power transmission gearbox provided with at least one lubrication system including a lubrication pump. The lubrication pump is in fluid flow communication with a fluid flow circuit leading to at least one spray means. The gearbox includes an emergency tank suitable for containing a lubrication fluid, the emergency tank being in fluid flow communication with the fluid flow circuit, the emergency tank being connected by at least one pipe to the fluid flow circuit upstream from each spray means, the lubrication fluid being moved in the fluid flow circuit to each spray means by a gas that is set into motion by the lubrication pump in the event of a leak of the lubrication liquid.
SYSTEMS OF PREVENTING ENGINE BEARING DAMAGE
A system for protecting an engine from damage due to vibration while the engine is not operating is provided. The system includes an engine having a crankshaft, at least one piston, at least one bearing, a lubricating fluid source, and a fluid pump associated therewith and a controller operationally connected to and configured to control the fluid pump. When the system is in a first mode, the controller is configured to control the fluid pump in a duty cycle to maintain a predetermined minimum fluid pressure of the lubricating fluid such that a lubricating fluid film is present between the at least one bearing and the crankshaft while the engine is not operating.
Oil injection unit
An oil injection unit to provide motor oil to the motor of an electric submersible pump. The oil injection unit includes an injection module containing an amount of motor oil to be injected into the motor, a sensor to detect a predetermined condition that indicates the need to inject motor oil into the motor, and an injection valve that can be selectively opened to inject motor oil to the motor upon detection by the sensor of the predetermined condition.
System and method of augmenting low oil pressure in an internal combustion engine
A system and method of providing supplementary oil flow to an oil circuit of an internal combustion engine is described. The primary oil supply is from a mechanical oil pump. The supplementary oil supply is provided using a control system, one or more sensors, and an electrical oil pump. The system is beneficial in circumstances where the mechanical oil pump provides insufficient oil flow, including during engine shutdown.
Emergency subsystem for a fluid system
A fluid system includes an emergency subsystem and a main subsystem in fluid communication with a working element. The main subsystem is in fluid communication with the emergency subsystem. The system operates in a standard mode and an emergency mode. During standard mode, both the main and emergency subsystems jointly provide fluid to the working element. During emergency mode, the emergency subsystem is configured for independently providing fluid to the working element.
Controlling fluid operations for machine systems
A system for controlling a fluid operation of a machine. The system includes a main pump of the machine, a supplemental pump of the machine, a fluid maintenance circuit comprising a processing circuit, and control system. The fluid maintenance system includes at least one memory device and at least one processor configured to access the memory device. The control system comprises a processing circuit, is electrically couplable to the main pump, the supplemental pump and the fluid maintenance circuit, and is configured to control the post-lubrication operation of the machine based on at least one of the following (1) a fluid operation service schedule and (2) data associated with the machine.
