20190170031 · 2019-06-06 ·

A system for controlling a variable oil pump is provided. The system includes a variable oil pump that varies a discharge pressure of oil and an actuator that is operated to vary the discharge pressure of the oil of the variable oil pump. A controller turns the actuator on or off based a relationship between an outdoor temperature and a cooling water temperature of an engine.

ROLLING BEARING DEVICE AND OIL SUPPLY UNIT

An oil supply unit has: a pump that has a pressure chamber portion that stores lubricating oil and a piezoelectric element that is deformable by application of a voltage, the pump ejecting lubricating oil in the pressure chamber portion; a tank that is connected to the pump and that stores lubricating oil to be supplied to the pump for replenishment; a sensor that detects a pressure in an oil region which extends from the pressure chamber portion to the tank and in which lubricating oil is present, or the state of a bearing portion; a pressure adjustment portion that adjusts a pressure of lubricating oil in the oil region which extends from the pressure chamber portion to the tank; and a control portion that controls at least one of the pressure adjustment portion and the piezoelectric element on the basis of a detection result from the sensor.

SYSTEM AND SENSOR UNIT FOR MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF LIQUID CONDITION
20190101520 · 2019-04-04 · ·

The present invention relates to a sensing unit for monitoring the condition of a liquid, the sensing unit comprising at least one sensor and an evaluation unit. The sensing unit is adapted to measure two or more parameters of the liquid by use of at least one sensor, where the parameters relate to at least liquid degradation or wear debris particle generation. The at least one sensor is adapted to provide at least two signals, each signal providing its values in a fashion suitable for developing a mean value and a variance different from zero over a course of at least two measurements. The evaluation unit is adapted to correlate the measured signals, and to evaluate the condition of the liquid by comparing the measured at least two parameters. Thereby, a reliable monitoring system giving continual feed-back on the performance of the lubricant and the machine in an auto-correlated manner is obtained, thus allowing continual adjustments to improve uptime and machine life.

Oil pressure control for a variable camshaft timing system

Methods and systems are provided for adjusting an oil pressure supplied to an engine and a variable cam timing (VCT) responsive to a condition of the VCT system. In one example, a method may include adjusting the oil pressure based on engine speed, engine load, and engine oil temperature, and responsive to a request to shift the VCT system during specific engine operating conditions, increasing the oil pressure to an upper threshold oil pressure for the duration of the shift.

A gas turbine engine includes a fan, a compressor, a combustor, a turbine, a bypass duct, and a bearing compartment assembly. The bearing compartment assembly includes a fluid pump, a compartment, a fluid line between the fluid pump and the compartment, and a damper check valve located in the fluid line. The damper check valve is a unitary, monolithic component that is configured to restrict a reverse flow from the compartment to the fluid pump substantially more than the damper check valve restricts a standard flow from the fluid pump to the compartment.

Lubricant valve monitoring method and assembly

An exemplary method of monitoring a position of a lubricant valve in a gas turbine engine includes monitoring a position of a lubricant valve using a first auxiliary pressure reading and a second auxiliary pressure reading. The first auxiliary pressure reading is taken when a primary lubrication circuit is at a first pressure. The second auxiliary pressure reading is taken when the primary lubrication circuit is at a second pressure. An exemplary assembly that detects transitions of a lubricant valve in a gas turbine engine includes a controller that uses readings of the primary pressure and readings of the auxiliary pressure to detect a position of a lubricant valve.
