PRESSURE VESSEL INCORPORATING RAPID, TOOLLESS ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY
20220205593 · 2022-06-30 ·

Some variations provide a pressure vessel comprising: a chamber for processing a material under a chamber pressure up to 5000 bar; an end cap disposed at one end of the pressure chamber; an interior seal plate disposed between the end cap and the chamber volume; and a plurality of pressure-vessel keys disposed between the end cap and an outer ring. At a chamber pressure greater than atmospheric, the end cap exerts a force against the keys to automatically and reversibly actuate a pressure-vessel seal. Conversely, at atmospheric pressure or less, the keys and end cap are easily removable. Essentially, the pressure in the vessel is utilized as an in situ mechanical force to automatically actuate a safe and efficient seal. Process cycle times are significantly reduced because the vessel is not opened and closed using tooling. Throughputs are increased, improving economics of pressure vessels for extraction, reaction, or other processes.

Fluid Transfer Apparatus

A fluid transfer apparatus transfers fluid from a first bulk storage vessel at a gas pressure equal to or greater than a first gas pressure. The fluid transfers to a first or second supply vessel; each having a gas pressure equal to or less than a second pressure. The second pressure less than the first pressure. The fluid transfer continues until the fluid in the first or second supply vessel reaches a predetermined weight inside the first or second supply vessel. The fluid in the filled first or second supply vessel, at the predetermined weight, under a pressure equal to or less than the second pressure; and the fluid in a liquefied and gas state. The apparatus heats the fluid in the first or second supply vessel, filled to the predetermined weight, to bring the fluid in the first or second supply vessel to a third gas pressure. The third gas pressure higher than the first gas pressure and the second gas pressure. The fluid in the first or second supply vessel having the third gas pressure can include fluid in the liquefied gas state and gas state or super critical state.

System to Absorbing and Distributing Energy Over Time to Contain a Relief Event

Configuring a high-vapor-pressure (HVP) material comprising a plurality of component hydrocarbons; flashing the HVP material from an HVP liquid to an HVP vapor as the HVP liquid is introduced into an evacuated portion of a containment vessel; introducing a relief mass from a process relief event occurring outside the containment vessel to mix with the HVP material in the containment vessel; and distributing energy from the process relief mass within the containment vessel using a plurality of energy absorption processes in the component hydrocarbons as the plurality of component hydrocarbons respectively condense to liquid phases over time. The evacuated portion of the containment vessel may be a headspace vacuum above a low-vapor-pressure (LVP) liquid within the containment vessel. The HVP material may comprise C4-C10 hydrocarbons. The HVP material may comprise a plurality of component hydrocarbons having diverse boiling points and vapor pressures, that absorb and distribute the relief mass energy.

A valve assembly for pressurized containers includes a main structure, a rotary control element rotatably connected to the main structure and configured so as to allow a gas flow through the valve assembly in accordance with an angular position thereof about a main rotation axis, a detection device which includes an angular position sensor and a movable member. The angular position sensor is configured to detect the angular position of the movable member about an auxiliary rotation axis. The movable member is rotatably supported on the main structure and the angular position sensor is fixed to the main structure. The valve assembly further includes a movement conversion mechanism configured so as to convert the movement of the rotary control element about the main axis into a corresponding rotational movement of the movable member about the auxiliary axis which is different with respect to the main rotation axis.

Systems and Methods for Utilizing Boil-Off Gas for Supplemental Cooling in Natural Gas Liquefaction Plants

Systems and methods for using a multi-stage compressor to increase the temperature and pressure of BOG sent to a heat exchanger for cooling a separate liquid refrigerant. The subsequent stage(s) of the multi-stage compressor further compress the BOG, which is then recycled to a liquefaction unit or used as fuel gas for one or more turbines.
