GAS ALARM AND SAFETY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system which detects gas leaks near devices which use “natural gas” or other flammable gases such as methane, ethane, propane or butane and implements multiple automatic responses to the detection of such leaks including emitting audible alarms, contacting utility and emergency service providers, and shutting off the flow of the flammable gases is disclosed. Optional to the system allowing the system to report on the approximate location of the leak and/or the approximate danger level caused by the leak by reporting on the gas/air ratios in the area are also disclosed. A method for implementing the method of the invention is also disclosed.
Pipeline sensor conduit and adhesion method
A conduit embedded in thermoplastic and adhered to a pipeline with a porous material assisting in the adhesion. The porous material is adhered to the pipeline, the porous material having at least some pores occupied by the thermoplastic. The porous material may be a sleeve of fibrous material. The adhesion may be accomplished by positioning a sleeve of fibrous material around a guide, bringing the thermoplastic into contact with the sleeve and heating the thermoplastic to cause the thermoplastic to enter pores of the sleeve. The guide forms a barrier preventing the thermoplastic from reaching a portion of the sleeve, and that portion is adhered to the object. This method may also be applied to adhere a thermoplastic, with or without a conduit, to any object.
DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING LEAKS FROM PRESSURIZED EQUIPMENT
A device, system, and method for detecting a leak (and determining the leak rate of the leak) for equipment, the device including a main body connected to the tested equipment and to an air supply source, wherein the main body includes a number of stages each having a valve and orifice such that flow of air through the independent stages is selectively controllable, where a change in the differential pressure recorded during flow of the air through a particular stage indicates a leak, and wherein the differential pressure recorded can be used to calculate the rate of leak in the equipment.
Vacuum bell probe and method for leak detection
A vacuum bell probe for detecting leaks in underground gas pipes may include a flexible suction cup having a bottom side forming a suction opening. The suction cup may define an interior volume. The bottom side may include a soft seal ring having a higher elasticity than the suction cup, surrounding the suction opening and forming a contact surface adapted to create a seal in contact with a ground surface under which a gas leak may be assumed such that a vacuum may be generated within the interior volume upon contact to the ground surface.
Monitoring system for a section or a component of a pipeline for the transport of hydrocarbons in a hazard site
A system for monitoring a section or a component of a line for the transport of hydrocarbons, for example a methane pipeline, installed in a hazard and/or limited access site, includes: a detector for detecting deformation (102,2) of the section (1) of the line or component in their installation area; a computerized central unit (3), provided with an interface for the deformation detector and connected thereto to receive data about possible deformations; a transmitter for remote transmission of data (4), connected to the computerized central unit (3) and a remote communication line (5) to transmit the data to one or more operating central stations or remote users authorized to control the methane pipeline; a stand-alone solar electric generator (10), connected to the detector, to the central unit (3) and to the transmitter for providing power needed for operation.
System and method for secondary containment of products conveyed by pipeline transport
Systems for containing a fluid leaked from a pipeline include a flexible, impermeable liner comprising a coated substrate and disposed to extend along a trench for enveloping the pipeline deployed therein; and separating means disposed between the pipeline and the liner for containing the fluid therein; wherein the liner prevents migration of the fluid into the trench by flowing the fluid laterally within the liner. Methods for deploying the above systems are provided.

Online pipe integrity testing system and method
Techniques for implementing and/or operating a pipeline system including a pipe segment, in which the pipe segment includes tubing that defines a pipe bore and fluid conduits in a tubing annulus, a pipe fitting secured to the pipe segment, in which the pipe fitting includes a vent port connected to the fluid conduits in the tubing annulus, and a testing apparatus. The testing apparatus includes a fluid valve connected to the vent port, an upstream sensor fluidly connected between the vent port and the fluid valve, in which the upstream sensor determines a fluid parameter associated with fluid within the fluid conduits in the tubing annulus, and a downstream sensor connected between the fluid valve and external environmental conditions, in which the downstream sensor determines another fluid parameter associated with fluid released from the fluid conduits in the tubing annulus while the fluid valve is in an opened state.
