Light engine and method of simulating a flame
A lighting device has a power interface and a control circuit in communication with a program and the LEDs to simulate a flame. The program determines a first group of LED control integers to simulate a perpetual middle with a perpetual middle center and a perpetual middle range within which one or more of the LEDs are to be at least partially actuated. At least one LED is actuated based on the first group of LED control integers. A first target for simulating movement of the perpetual middle center toward the first target and a first acceleration value is defined. The program determines a second group of LED control integers based on the first target and the first acceleration value such that the perpetual middle center becomes closer to the first target. One or more of the LEDs is actuated based on the second group of LED control integers.
Electrically operated fireplace systems and methods
The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for providing an electrically operated fireplace that includes a one or more display panels, one or more reflective surfaces inclined at an angle with respect to the one or more display panels to reflect the video images of a flame displayed by the one or more display panels. One or more filters or privacy screens are disposed proximate the one or more display panels. Beneficially, the electrically operated fireplaces disclosed herein do not require the use of moving parts, such as a rotating mirror, to provide the images of the flames. Further, since video images are used to provide the flame effect, the flame effect may be varied simply by loading a new video image into the memory portion of the control circuitry used to provide the flame display.

LED simulated flame device and LED simulated candle
An LED simulated flame device includes a semi-transparent diffusion cover in a candle flame shape, a light-emitting lamp plate, and a control circuit module. The light-emitting lamp plate includes a PCB substrate, and several LED chips shading between brightness and darkness at random, and the LED chips include an up-lighting LED chip that is located on a top edge of the PCB substrate, emits light upward, and is configured to project light and shadows onto a middle upper portion of the diffusion cover, two mid-lighting LED chips that emit light toward a front surface of the diffusion cover, are configured to project light and shadows onto a middle portion of the diffusion cover, and are located on front and back surfaces of the PCB substrate, and a down-lighting LED chip that corresponds to a bottom portion of the diffusion cover, emits light upward, and is configured to supplement light.
ELECTRIC LIGHTING DEVICES
Various components for artificial candles and other lighting devices are described that can be used to create a realistic flame effect in the devices. The devices include a flame element that extends upwardly from a housing. A light source can be disposed with respect to the flame element such that the flame element is illuminated. A variety of drive mechanisms could be disposed within the body of the device that can cause movement of the flame element with respect to the housing. The flame element can be coupled to a housing or mounting bracket of the device using various components to suspend the flame element within the housing.
Flameless candle with photodetector
A flameless candle, includes: a body; a light source; a photodetector; and circuitry. The body has a shell surrounding an interior region. The light source emits light that emulates a candle flame. The circuitry detects the voltage across the photodetector and also detects the state of a user input. In response, the circuitry selectively controls the light source by turning it ON or OFF. While the light source is OFF, the circuitry compares the voltage of the photodetector to a first threshold, and when the voltage transitions to less than the first threshold, the circuitry turns the light source ON. While the light source is ON, the circuitry compares the voltage of the photodetector to a second threshold, and when the voltage is greater than the second threshold, the circuitry turns the light source OFF. The first threshold is less than the second threshold.
