Disclosed herein are compositions, methods, and articles of personal protective equipment for use in detoxifying an organophosphate-based agent, wherein the compositions, methods, and articles comprise contacting the organophosphate-based agent with a cocaine esterase, wherein the contacting detoxifies the organophosphate-based agent.

Decontamination Composition and Application Thereof
20250128113 · 2025-04-24 ·

A decontamination composition, containing chloroperoxidase. The decontamination composition can rapidly degrade chemical warfare agents, namely mustard gas (HD), Lewisite (L) and VX, and the decontamination products of mustard gas and Lewisite are non-toxic, thereby effectively preventing the harm of the chemical warfare agents to the environment and organism, and reducing the degree of harm of the products to soil, vegetation and organism compared with conventional decontaminant agents.

DRUG DISPOSAL SYSTEM

The present invention comprises a safe and effective system for removal of a range of common pharmaceutical compounds. The formulation comprises activated carbon, accompanied by some larger pebble-like material to help break up capsules and tablets upon shaking, in the presence of an acidified liquid medium. Drugs are added to the bottle and the bottle is shaken so that the drugs are dissolved by the liquid solution and are irreversibly adsorbed onto activated carbon, thereby sequestering them from further use.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR DEGRADATION OF POLLUTANTS BY PLANT-PRODUCED MANGANESE PEROXIDASE
20250161732 · 2025-05-22 ·

The disclosure relates to methods for degrading and/or removing pollutants comprising a phenol, aniline, a hydrocarbon, or a combination thereof, in a waste material. Methods include providing a viable corn plant expressing a fungus-derived recombinant manganese peroxidase in seeds of the corn plant, growing the corn plant, harvesting the seeds, and contacting one or more composition(s) comprising (1) at least a portion of the seeds, and (2) a peroxide or a peroxide source with the waste material comprising the pollutant to remove or degrade the pollutant.

Stabilization of reactive oxygen species in ceria-based composite aerogels

A composition having a gadolinium-, samarium-, or lanthanum-substituted porous cerium oxide and copper or gold nanoparticles. The composition can be exposed to electromagnetic radiation to form reactive oxygen species in the composition to decompose organophosphonate compounds. The composition may be made by forming a mixture of a cerium salt; a gadolinium, samarium, or lanthanum salt; and an epoxide; forming gel from the mixture; and drying the gel to form an aerogel, a xerogel, or an ambigel. Copper or gold nanoparticles are added or formed at any point in the method.

NANOFLUID COMPOSITION FOR DISPLACEMENT OF ENTRAINED CONTAMINANTS FROM RESTRICTED GEOMETRIES AND CAPILLARY FEATURES

The present invention is directed to an aqueous nanofluid composition and the method of use thereof for displacing or removing chemical warfare agents (CWAs) from capillary spaces, the nanofluid composition comprising water, colloidal silica, and at least one surfactant, such that the nanofluid composition is adjacent to the capillary features to absorb the CWAs from the capillary features. Upon displacement or removal, the CWAs are ready for disposal.

MOF-fabric composites and methods of MOF-fabric composite synthesis

Provided are MOF-fabric composites having a crystalline MOF adhered directly to fibers of the fabric and methods of making MOF-fabric composites. A solution is adsorbed onto a fabric. The solution can include a metal salt, a linker, and a solvent. The solution is adsorbed onto the fabric and the fabric suspended over a heated vapor. The vapor releases onto the fabric, causing the metal salt, the linker, and the solvent to diffuse out of the polymer fibers. The linker links metal from the metal salts to form crystals attached to the fabric, and the vapor aids crystallization.

COATING FOR DECONTAMINATION OF TOXIC CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS

A decontamination coating and method for manufacturing the decontamination coating, wherein the decontamination coating includes a multilayer structure including a support, a trapping layer intended to be brought into contact with the toxic chemical compounds so as to trap them, and a holding film intended to maintain the shape of the support in the plane and in a direction transverse to the plane, during the formation of the trapping layer.
