The adjustment facility may include a ball and socket mechanism with the ball on the lens assembly and the frame defining a socket. The adjustment facility may include a pair of first and set screws connected to the frame and operably contacting the lens assembly, each set screw associated with a different aiming axis. The set screws may each define a respective rotation axis, and the rotation axes may be parallel to each other.

A light distribution member includes a body and a light-shielding frame. The body includes a plurality of transmissive pieces and a plurality of light shield parts each interposed between adjacent ones of the transmissive pieces. Each of the transmissive pieces is made of a phosphor or made of a sinter of a phosphor and a binder composed of an inorganic substance. The light-shielding frame is provided so as to surround an outer edge periphery of the body. The light-shielding frame is made of a ceramic. The light distribution member contains substantially no organic substance inside the light-shielding frame.

A lighting apparatus includes: a light source; a light-transmissive diffuser panel disposed to receive light emitted from the light source; a frame having an opening through which light passes; and a light blocker that blocks the light emitted from the light source. The general illumination light source outputs general illumination light that is directed by the optical coupling toward the optical array. The optical array has optical passages and optical array supports. The optical array supports frame the display light emitters and the optical passages channel the directed general illumination light from the optical coupling around display light emitters framed near the optical array supports. Near-field shadow regions are formed under the display light emitters.

The optical array has optical passages and optical array supports. The optical array supports frame the display light emitters and the optical passages channel the directed general illumination light from the optical coupling around display light emitters framed near the optical array supports. Near-field shadow regions are formed under the display light emitters.

The diffusing element comprises a diffuser grid providing a barrier between mutually facing sidewalls of the diffuser tiles. The diffuser grid is formed in a different material from the diffuser tiles. A lower side of the diffuser grid adapted to abut an upper side of the compartment grid.
