The present invention is directed to a lighting assembly configured for use in direct and indirect lighting applications. The lighting assembly may include a channel having a body base and a wall substantially perpendicularly from a side of the body base, and an elongated wing having a slab with a first substantially flat side, and a second side opposite the first substantially flat side from which an arm extends. The lighting assembly may also include a panel having an elongated strip and a raceway positioned at least substantially perpendicular to the elongated strip.

A lighting apparatus includes a light source plate, a surface rim and a light passing cover. The light source plate is mounted with a light source. The light source plate is placed upon the support plate. The surface rim has an inner wall and an exterior wall. The inner wall has a top part and a bottom part. A bottom diameter of the bottom part is smaller than a top diameter of the top part. The light source is placed closer to the bottom part of the inner wall and surrounded by the bottom part of the inner wall. The light passing cover is attached to the top part of the inner wall. The light source has a LED light source, a light housing, a driver circuit and a plastic device connector housing. The plastic device connector housing has a receiver socket for detachably receiving a corresponding plastic plug of the host connector. When the plastic plug of the host connector is inserted into the receiver socket, metal terminals of the host connector engage elongate flat front ends fixed to the plastic device connector housing.
