Polymer housing for a recessed lighting system and methods for using same
A recessed lighting system includes multiple components formed from a polymer to reduce the number of components in the system, lower the cost of manufacture, and simplify the installation of the recessed lighting system. In one example, a recessed lighting system includes a housing formed from a polymer, a hanger bar assembly, a light module, and a trim. A yoke may be installed into the housing to provide greater accessibility to mount the light module and/or trim to the housing. A partition plate may be installed to push back wires/cables disposed in the housing such that the cavity of the housing is divided into a wiring compartment containing the wires/cables and a lighting compartment containing the light module and the trim. A hanger bar assembly may also be coupled to the housing to couple the recessed lighting system to a building structure (e.g., a T-bar, a joist, a stud).
FLAME PROTECTED OPTIC
Various embodiments described herein are directed to luminaire components that prevent flame transmission from the inside of a luminaire to the outside of a luminaire. In certain aspects, the luminaire can be used in an environment containing flammable gas, for example, in specialized lab work or testing applications. This application discusses components that can be used to prevent flame transmission from the inside of a luminaire to the outside of a luminaire, thereby yielding a flame encapsulating luminaire. Accordingly, the components and assemblies described herein can be safely integrated with systems that operate in the presence flammable gas.
EXPLOSION PROTECTED LUMINAIRE
This application discusses components that can be used to prevent flame or hot gas transmission from the inside of a luminaire enclosure to the outside of a luminaire enclosure due to an internal explosion, thereby yielding an explosion encapsulating luminaire enclosure. Accordingly, the components and assemblies described herein can be safely integrated with systems that operate in the presence explosive gas.

A recessed lighting fixture includes a one-piece casing having i) a flat-crown-hat-shaped to be secured to a ceiling or the like and that is made of a fire-retardant material, ii) a flange fitting that is removably mounted to the one-piece casing therein, and iii) a light-emitting diode (LED) assembly mounted to the flange fitting therein.

A light fixture can include a housing comprising at least one wall that forms a cavity, wherein the housing complies with applicable standards for a hazardous environment. The light fixture can also include an antenna assembly disposed on an outer surface of the housing. The antenna assembly can provide communication with another device within the hazardous environment without compromising the applicable standards for the hazardous environment.

A light fixture can include a housing comprising at least one wall that forms a cavity, wherein the housing complies with applicable standards for a hazardous environment. The light fixture can also include an antenna assembly disposed on an outer surface of the housing. The antenna assembly can provide communication with another device within the hazardous environment without compromising the applicable standards for the hazardous environment.
HARSH AND HAZARDOUS LOCATION HIGH LUMEN LUMINAIRE ASSEMBLY AND METHOD
A high-lumen light-emitting diode (LED) luminaire assembly in a harsh and hazardous environment is provided. The luminaire assembly includes an integrated mounting module manufactured as a single piece and including a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The luminaire assembly also includes an LED assembly coupled to the mounting module at the second side of the mounting module, and a driver configured to provide electricity to the LED assembly. The luminaire assembly further includes a driver cover sized to cover the driver and coupled to the mounting module at the first side of the mounting module. The driver and the LED assembly are operable within a target peak temperature limit for the hazardous environment.
