The driver box contains a driver for converting an external power to a driving current supplied to the light source to emit a light from the light opening. The fixing bracket is coupled to the light holder for fixing to an installation cavity. The fixing bracket has a bottom plate and two connector plate. The bottom plate is fixed to the second side of the light holder. The two connector plates are disposed vertically to the bottom plate. Each connector plate has two side units. Each torsion spring has an elastic center and two arms.

The heat dissipation plate is placed between the light holder and the driver box for carrying away both heat of the driver box and the light source. The heat dissipation plate is a separate metal piece from the driver box and the light housing. The heat dissipation plate has a portion not covered by the light holder and the driver box and exposed to air.

A π-filter circuit and a non-isolated switch driving circuit connected in order. An output terminal of the non-isolated switch driving circuit is connected with the LED source. The full-bridge rectification, the π-filter circuit and the non-isolated switch driving circuit are common grounded to form a power ground. The power ground is electronically connected with the conducting element in order to reduce the interference of an electromagnetic energy generated by the high-frequency switch signal to other appliances.

A LED based lighting apparatus is disclosed. The light engine used in the lighting apparatus may use printed circuit board and have a plurality of LED groups that are independently controllable by a control unit. The power supply input and return paths connected to each LED group may be implemented on different layers to allow a compact footprint that may be used with traditional fluorescent encasements with relatively little modification. The LEDs may comprise a subset of LEDs having a first colour and a subset of LEDs having a second colour different from said first colour intertwined on the light engine.
