Solid State Lamp Using Light Emitting Strips

In one embodiment, an LED lamp has a generally bulb shape. The LEDs are low power types and are encapsulated in thin, narrow, flexible strips. The LEDs are connected in series in the strips to drop a desired voltage. The strips are affixed to the outer surface of a bulb form to provide structure to the lamp. The strips are connected in parallel to a power supply, which may be housed in the lamp. Since many low power LEDs are used and are spread out over a large surface area, there is no need for a large metal heat sink. Further, the light emission is similar to that of an incandescent bulb. In other embodiment, there is no bulb form and the strips are bendable to have a variety of shapes. In another embodiment, a light sheet is bent to provide 360 degrees of light emission. Many other embodiments are described.

An LED light module comprises an emitting portion; at least one LED package; a back cover; and an end cap. The emitting portion defines a first curved surface. The first curved surface extends a first length along a cylindrical axis defined by the LED light module. The back cover defines a second curved surface extending the first length along the cylindrical axis. The first curved surface and the second curved surface define a perimeter of the LED light module. In a cross-section of the LED light module taken in a plane substantially perpendicular to the cylindrical axis, the perimeter is substantially ovular, elliptical and/or tear-drop shaped. The end cap is substantially ovular, elliptical and/or tear-drop shaped, and comprises a coupling element configured to electrically and/or mechanically couple the LED light module to a subsequent LED light module or to a fixture.

The embodiments of the present invention relate to the field of illumination technology, and in particular, a wearable illumination apparatus is disclosed, which comprises: a body, the body being bendable; and a first light source, the first light source being fixed to the body and able to be bent together with the body. The wearable illumination apparatus is provided with the first light source that is bendable; and when the wearable illumination apparatus is worn around the head of a user, the wearable illumination apparatus can be bent into the contour shape of the head of the user. In this case, the first light source forms an arc-shaped light source, so that the wearable illumination apparatus provides a wider illumination range than those of the headlamps on the market, and the user does not need to repeatedly adjust the angle of a main lamp or move the main lamp to make an illumination area of the main lamp be within a desired range by the user, thereby facilitating use of the user.
