A lighting device (10) is disclosed comprising a flexible arrangement including a chain of strips (11) wherein respective end portions of neighboring strips (11) are interconnected by a hinging joint (13) and a plurality of LEDs (15) positioned at regular intervals along the flexible arrangement. The pitch of the LEDs (15) in such a lighting device (10) may be adjusted by adjusting the angle between neighbouring strips (11) interconnected by a hinging joint (13). A lighting system (100) comprising such lighting devices (10) and a central controller (110) is also disclosed.

A method for making an LED lighting fixture includes the steps of: a) cutting a flat blank to form a flat plate including a central piece having a central region and a circumferential region, and a plurality of peripheral extensions; b) forming on the flat plate a patterned circuit which includes a plurality of electrical contact pairs that are formed on the central piece or the peripheral extensions; c) bringing a plurality of LED dies into electrical contact with the electrical contact pairs, respectively; and d) bending the peripheral extensions rearwardly relative to the central piece and toward the central axis to form a shell.

An LED illumination apparatus includes a substrate, a light source disposed on a top side of the substrate, a cover unit configured to cover the light source, and a reflector configured to extend from inside the cover unit towards the upper substrate, such that light generated by the light source illuminates an area below a bottom side of the substrate.
