A reformer includes a base having a longitudinal direction, a carriage coupled to the base and moveable relative to the base in the longitudinal direction, and an actuator coupled to the carriage and the base such that the actuator is arranged to exert a force between the carriage and the base. The force moves the carriage relative to the base in the longitudinal direction or resists movement of the carriage relative to the base in the longitudinal direction.

An exercise apparatus includes a first cable, a first motor configured to apply a tension to the first cable, a pair of pulleys, and a terminal. The first cable extends from the first motor, past the pair of pulleys, and to the terminal, and the terminal constrains a distal end of the first cable from retracting toward the first motor away from the terminal such that at least a minimum length of the first cable is maintained between the first motor and the terminal. An exercise device includes a shuttle configured to translate along a first and a second cable in response to a separation of the cables by a user. The cables may extend along first and second cable slots that extend through a shuttle housing between first and second sides of the housing. First and second pulleys may be rotatably mounted to the housing and include corresponding first and second engagement surfaces configured to engage respective the first and second cables within the respective first and second cable slots. The device consists of two hemispherical shells, both of which have handles attached via risers. In some embodiments, a battle rope strength trainer device is provided. The battle rope strength trainer device provides a multifunction exercise device that combines strength building properties of body weight strength exercises with the cardiovascular training of battle rope oscillation exercises in one product. In one embodiment, the battle rope strength trainer device includes an anchor, a rope and a mounting device. The rope includes a first end coupled to the anchor and two free ends. The first end is attachable to a structure via the anchor and the two free ends are positioned opposite to the first end. The mounting device is coupled to the structure above the anchor. In that regard, the mounting device is adapted to receive a portion of the rope associated with each of the two free ends to enable movement of the rope for a plurality of exercises.
