Exercise Machine with Levitated Platform

An improved exercise machine has a stationary longitudinal monorail structure that extends between front and back end stationary exercise platforms, and an exercise platform mounted on a levitated carriage that is reciprocally movable along the monorail between the stationary platforms. Magnetic elements arranged on various opposing surfaces of the carriage and monorail generate magnetic forces that levitate and stabilize the carriage as it moves relative to the monorail thus substantially eliminating contact friction. Springs selectively attachable to the movable platform provide a resistance force for exercising. Pseudo-levitation and eddy brake elements on the carriage and monorail structure further stabilize the carriage and platform.

The magnetic resistance unit includes a guide rail disc, a metal ring sheet, at least one magnetic seat, and at least one guide post. The guide rail disc has a guide disc rail through which the guide post penetrates. The magnetic seat is used to generate magnetic resistance with the metal ring sheet, and the magnetic seat has a magnetic seat rail. The guide post is connected to the air volume adjusting disc, penetrates through the guide disc rail, and extends into the magnetic seat rail. The guide post moves in the magnetic seat rail with rotation of the air volume adjusting disc to drive the magnetic seat to pivotally rotate relative to the guide rail disc.

The brake actuator may thus include a knob whereby a user may finely adjust the braking force on the wheel and a lever to actuate interval settings whereby the brake actuator provides set positions of braking resistance. The exercise machine may further include a pop-pin assembly with an over-center cam mechanism to clamp members together. The pop-pin assembly also includes a fine adjustment to adjust the clamping force. So, for example, the seat stem may be clamped to the seat tube, or the handlebar stem clamped to the head tube, with a lever actuating the over center mechanism.
