There is described an apparatus for installation on a hand having a thumb and opposable fingers, both having joints and phalanges. The apparatus comprises biasing devices. Each one of the biasing devices substantially has an inversed V shape formed by a hinge, a distal end and a proximal end. The biasing devices are connected together to form the apparatus. The hinges of the biasing devices are spatially distributed so that each hinge covers a corresponding one of the joints and biases the distal end and proximal end toward each other. The apparatus keeps the hand in a substantially closed position to assist in gripping objects.

Interactive apparatus and methods for muscle strengthening

An interactive exercise system with apparatus and methods to optimize muscle strength for rehabilitation, to improve or maintain fitness, and to enhance the performance of athletes. The system uses an electronically controlled linear actuator to generate resistance against the muscular force exerted by the user. The system includes sensors configured to detect acceleration, speed, velocity, position, direction of movement, duration, and the force applied by the user. A control system preferably continuously monitors the sensors, and instantaneously adjusts the adaptive actuator. This provides a proportional counterforce to the user force throughout the entire range-of-motion. A display panel allows the user to interact with the system in real-time. The objective of the user is to synchronize the exercise performance with a selected target goal, by correlating the user's movement relative to a position on a display panel.

The Unibody Fitness System allows an individual to receive the highly desirable low impact resistance of working out in a pool without actually being in water. With the Unibody Fitness System, the user can perform a complete workout regiment to build muscles without the use of weights or water as the system uses fluid to create resistance during cardiovascular workout, aerobics, walking, jogging or doing menial tasks. By attaching the Unibody Fitness System device to the body's joints and flex points, such as the elbow and knee, resistance is produce for the muscles in that region of the body every time the user bends or extends the arm or leg which the device is worn.

In various embodiments, an apparatus for exercising can include a housing, a first inner tube, a second inner tube, and a compression spring operable to resist motion when compressed. The first inner tube is coupled with a first end of the compression spring and the second inner tube is coupled with a second end of the compression spring. In addition, the apparatus can also include an extension spring inside the housing. Furthermore, a portion of the compression spring and a portion of each of the first and second inner tubes are inside the housing. Note that a first end of the extension spring is coupled with a first handle or loop and the second end of the extension spring is coupled with a second handle or loop. The extension spring is operable to provide resistance during pulling motion away from center of the apparatus.

Exercise device and method of using same

An inclinable exercise device includes a support; an adjustable incline having an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion operably supported by the support to allow adjustment in an angle of the adjustable incline; a user support platform movably attached to the adjustable incline for movement of the user support platform along the adjustable incline during at least one of jumping and squat exercises; a foot support stand secured to the adjustable incline in the lower portion, the foot support engaged by one's feet during at least one of jumping and squat exercises; one or more resistance mechanisms resisting upward movement of the user support platform along the adjustable incline during at least one of jumping and squat exercises.

SACROILIAC JOINT EXERCISE DEVICE

An exercise device including a base, a vertical extension member, a vertical sliding member, an arm rotation member, an arm member, a resistance apparatus configured to attach to the arm rotation member and to the arm member at a first end of the arm member and provide resisted rotation of the arm member about a second axis, and an interfacing member attached toward a second end of the arm member and configured to interface with the body of a user and enable the user to rotate the arm member about the second axis.

Resistance band exercise machine

A resistance band exercise machine for performing various exercises. An embodiment includes a housing for a cable-pulley variable resistance system. Some embodiments are configured to receive one or more safety bars to set a starting position of an exercise. Some embodiments include a training partner assistantship feature for a training partner to assist the user by imparting a secondary force on the machine. The configuration of the cable-pulley variable resistance system may be in any manner based on the exercise. In some embodiments, a user performs an exercise on the resistance band exercise machine to overcome a primary (e.g., resistance bands) and secondary (e.g., springs) sources of variably increasing resistance from the cable-pulley variable resistance system.
