An inward-firing dual fuel combustion burner system comprising a burner casing configured to receive a gaseous mixture at a burner inlet and to provide hot combustion gas at a burner output; a combustion substrate disposed within the burner casing, the substrate having a shape comprising at least a semi-cone, having a substrate angle measured from a longitudinal axis, having a substrate porosity defined by a plurality of pores, and having a substrate inner surface and a substrate outer surface; the substrate configured to receive the fuel-air mixture at the outer surface of the substrate, the fuel-air mixture passing through the pores at a mixture flow rate from the substrate outer surface toward the substrate inner surface; one or a plurality of oil nozzles disposed within the combustion cavity defined by the substrate in fluidic communication with a source of pre-heated and pre-pressurized oil fuel, an oil nozzle configured to receive the oil fuel and disperse the oil fuel into the cavity; the burner configured to be operated using either a gaseous premix fuel air mixture or a pre-heated and pre-pressurized liquid fuel oil; the burner configured such that, during gaseous premix fuel operation, the fuel-air mixture ignites near the plurality of pores to form a respective plurality of flamelets, each flamelet corresponding to one of the pores; and the burner configured such that, during oil fuel operation, the oil mixture ignites during isenthalpic expansion.
FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLIES
A method for assembling a fuel distribution system for a turbomachine fuel injector includes inserting a liquid fuel distributor into an interior cavity of a shroud to create a liquid fuel distribution circuit between the liquid fuel distributor and the shroud and inserting a gas fuel distributor into the interior cavity of the shroud and into an interior cavity of the liquid fuel distributor to create a gas fuel distribution circuit between the gas fuel distributor and the liquid fuel distributor. The method includes inserting a fuel transfer tube into an outer diameter of the shroud. The method includes brazing or shrink fitting at least one of the fuel transfer tube, the gas fuel distributor, or the liquid fuel distributor to the shroud.

Apparatus and method for a center fuel stabilization bluff body
An apparatus for producing a stabilizing base flame for a premix main burner flame in a burner assembly having a burner end, a first fuel line, a first fuel nozzle, a second fuel line, and a second fuel nozzle. The apparatus comprises a conduit having a first fuel line end in fluid communication with the first fuel line, a second fuel line end in fluid communication with the second fuel line, a valve in fluid communication with the conduit and a center fuel stabilization bluff body mounted in the burner end. The center fuel stabilization bluff body comprises a first ring, a second ring and a cylinder disposed between the first ring and the second ring.
METHOD FOR CONVERTING A GAS BOILER INTO A LIQUID-FUEL BOILER
A method for converting a gas boiler into a liquid-fuel boiler. The gas boiler comprises an enclosure which accommodates a firebox, which forms a combustion chamber and is provided with a supporting wall which supports a burner provided with a combustion head, which protrudes from the supporting wall and has a substantially cylindrical shape with an internal cavity formed axially; the enclosure is provided with a passage in which an atomizing nozzle, connected to a liquid fuel supply duct, and at least one ignition electrode are inserted from the outside; a snorkel-shaped body is also applied to the end of the combustion head that is opposite with respect to the supporting wall and the supply duct is connected supply duct is connected to a pressurized source of liquid fuel.
Gas-only cartridge for a premix fuel nozzle
A gas-only cartridge for a fuel nozzle includes a flange that defines a plurality of apertures for receiving a gaseous fuel, an outer tube that is coupled to the flange and an inner tube that extends axially within the outer tube. The inner tube and the outer tube define a fuel passage therebetween and the fuel passage is in fluid communication with the plurality of apertures of the flange. A fuel distribution tip is disposed at a downstream end of the gas-only cartridge and defines a plurality of fuel ports circumferentially spaced along and annularly arranged about an outer surface of the fuel distribution tip. The fuel ports are in fluid communication with the fuel passage.
DUAL-FUEL FUEL NOZZLE WITH GAS AND LIQUID FUEL CAPABILITY
The present disclosure is directed to a dual-fuel fuel nozzle that includes a center body having a tube shape and a gas fuel plenum defined within the center body. The duel-fuel fuel nozzle also includes a ring manifold defining a liquid fuel plenum disposed within the center body. The duel-fuel fuel nozzle further includes a plurality of radially oriented fuel injectors in fluid communication with the liquid fuel plenum. Additionally, the duel-fuel fuel nozzle includes an inner fuel tube extending axially within the center body. A portion of the inner fuel tube extends helically about an axial centerline of the center body. The inner fuel tube is in fluid communication with an axially oriented fuel injector. Furthermore, the duel-fuel fuel nozzle includes first fuel tube extending helically around a portion of the inner fuel tube within the center body. The first fuel tube is fluidly coupled to the fuel plenum.
METHOD FOR BURNING A LIQUID OR GASEOUS FUEL IN A BOILER, BOILER FOR CARRYING OUT THE METHOD AND THERMAL BATH HAVING A BOILER
A method and a boiler for burning a liquid or gaseous fuel. The boiler comprises a boiler housing with a cylindrical heat exchanger arranged therein and has slot-like pass-through openings for the combustion gases and has a flame tube. A flame-deflecting part for deflecting the combustion gases at a right angle is provided at an axial distance from the flame tube. The flame tube contains a baffle plate with a faceplate through which combustion air is fed into the flame tube. A blower ensures the supply of combustion air into the combustion chamber. Blower pressure is so that a differential pressure zone with a differential pressure of at least 0.25 mbar is generated between the flame tube and the heat exchanger, downstream of the faceplate at full load of the burner in relation to the pressure in the combustion chamber in the region of the recirculation slots.
PASSIVE PURGE INJECTORS
A method of injecting fuel in a gas turbine engine includes injecting gaseous fuel from a gaseous fuel circuit of an injector in a first mode, wherein flow of gaseous fuel from the gaseous fuel circuit constricts air flow from an air circuit. The method includes injecting liquid fuel from a liquid fuel circuit in a second mode, idling flow in the gaseous fuel circuit and flowing air through the air circuit for passive purge to prevent liquid fuel from migrating into the gaseous fuel circuit. The method includes injecting a gaseous fuel that lies within a range of different Wobbe Index values, wherein regardless of where the gaseous fuel falls in the range, it does not prevent operation in the first and second modes as described above.
Dual Mode Regenerative Burner System and a Method of Heating a Furnace Using a Dual Mode Regenerative Burner System
A method and apparatus for heating a furnace using a burner system having first and second burner assemblies, each including a burner and a regenerative media bed, the method including operating the first burner assembly in a firing mode and the second burner assembly in a regeneration mode, switching the first burner assembly from the firing mode to the regeneration mode and the second burner assembly from the regeneration mode to the firing mode, and operating the second burner assembly in the firing mode and the first burner assembly in the regeneration mode. The burner assembly in the firing mode may be fired in either a first operating mode where the burner is supplied with preheated low calorific fuel and the burner is supplied with oxidizing gas or a second operating mode where the burner is supplied with preheated oxidizing gas and the burner is supplied with high calorific fuel.
