Methods and apparatuses can be configured to facilitate sorting of paper from garbage and/or single stream recycling and subsequently process that separated paper to remove the contaminants from the paper so that the paper is in an acceptable condition for recycling. In some embodiments, the apparatus and method may utilize at least one dryer device that is configured to heat the paper without combusting the paper to remove water from the paper. The dryer device can also be configured to mix the paper as it is dried while also removing particulate contaminants off of the paper to clean the thrown away paper sufficiently so that the paper is in a condition that is acceptable for recycling into a paper product (e.g. a cardboard box, paper plate, sheets of paper, etc.).

PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF STABLE TOLUENE DIAMINE RESIDUE/WATER BLENDS, RELATED COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS OF USING SUCH BLENDS AS A FUEL

Processes for stabilizing toluenediamine residues are disclosed. These processes include adding a low viscosity, low boiling liquid to a toluenediamine residue composition to form a blend, and optionally, continuously monitoring the viscosity of the blend during addition of the low viscosity, low boiling liquid. The low viscosity, low boiling liquid may be added at 5% to 30% by weight based on the total weight of the blend. Further, the low viscosity, low boiling liquid may be added so that the blend has a viscosity of 10,000 cP or less throughout the temperature range of 40 C. to 95 C. Blends of toluenediamine residue compositions and low viscosity, low boiling liquids such as water, and methods of their use as a fuel are also disclosed.

Solid waste digestion system

A system for digesting biodigestible feed that preferably includes the steps of comminuting the feed, introducing feed, an oxygen-containing gas, an accelerant, and bacteria into a digestion zone, the bacteria being suitable for digesting the feed under aerobic, anaerobic, and anoxic conditions. The contents of the digestion zone can be changed from aerobic operation to either anoxic or anaerobic operation, or vice versa, without changing the bacteria in the digestion zone.

COMBUSTION OF STREAMS DERIVED FROM HOT WATER EXTRACTION OF WOOD MATERIAL

Various techniques are described for enhanced combustion of hot water extraction (HWE) derived liquor. For example, the HWE derived liquor can be pre-treated prior to introduction into a combustion chamber. The pre-treatment can include subjecting HWE derived liquor to filtration to remove suspended solids, evaporation to produce a first stage concentrated HWE liquor; additional concentration to produce a second stage concentrated HWE liquor; additional filtration to remove additional suspended solids; and pre-heating to produce a preheated HWE liquor. The preheated HWE liquor can be atomized and combined with pre-heated combustion air supplied into a combustion chamber to effect combustion of the HWE derived liquor.
