PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURING EDIBLE AND/OR BIODEGRADABLE ARTICLES
Processes and devices are for manufacturing edible and/or biodegradable articles. Examples of the edible and/or biodegradable articles that can be manufactured include kitchen utensils, tableware and/or household articles or utensils, such as, knives, forks, spoons, stirrers, chopsticks, skewers, rods, straws, popsicle sticks, cones, ice cream cornets, packaging and containers of all kinds with or without a lid such as cups, mugs, demitasses, plates, dessert bowls, trays, bowls, and salad bowls. The edible and/or biodegradable articles can also be used as sports equipment.
FIBER MIX FORMULATIONS AND USES THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to a fiber mix formulation comprising a mixture of bran, inulin, and digestion resistant maltodextrin useful to restore a healthier gut microbiota and alleviate symptoms in subjects with imbalance of gut microbiota. The mixture of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) and insoluble dietary fiber (ISDF) with a ratio of ISDF:SDF (0.5:1 to 1:0.5), has synergistic effect on gut microbiota composition, promoting the growth of the acetate- and butyrate-producing bacteria and inhibiting the growth of pathogens and detrimental bacteria.
Pretreated clay composition and process for selective removal of planar molecules from solutions
A process of forming a treated clay composition, a process of decaffeination, and a treated clay composition are shown. The process of forming the treated clay composition includes providing a first solution of caffeine molecules and non-caffeine molecules, extracting the caffeine molecules to form a pretreatment solution, and bringing a clay composition into contact with the pretreatment solution to form the treated clay composition, on which at least one of the non-caffeine molecules is adsorbed. The process of decaffeination includes providing a solution of caffeine and non-caffeine molecules, and bringing the solution into contact with a treated clay composition. The treated clay composition includes organic molecules adsorbed on mineral layers of a clay. The organic molecules are non-caffeine molecules from a pretreatment solution.
Wheat with increased resistant starch levels
A series of independent human-induced non-transgenic mutations found at one or more of the SBEII genes of wheat; wheat plants having these mutations in one or more of their SBEII genes; and a method of creating and finding similar and/or additional mutations of SBEII by screening pooled and/or individual wheat plants. The seeds and flour from the wheat plants of the present invention exhibit an increase in amylose and resistant starch without having the inclusion of foreign nucleic acids in their genomes. Additionally, the wheat plants of the present invention exhibit altered SBEII activity without having the inclusion of foreign nucleic acids in their genomes.
IN-BAG PROCESS FOR COOKING OR PARTIALLY COOKING WATER-ABSORBING AND OTHER FOOD PRODUCTS IN A CONTINUOUS OVEN
A process for cooking rice, quinoa, couscous, pasta, beans, chick peas and other products which absorb water during the cooking process. The product is placed in sealed cooking bags along with a sufficient amount of liquid for absorption. The sealed bags are then conveyed through a continuous oven in which they are contacted with a superheated vapor cooking medium.
METHODS FOR PRODUCING A HIGH PROTEIN CORN MEAL FROM A WHOLE STILLAGE BYPRODUCT AND SYSTEM THEREFORE
The present invention relates generally to corn dry-milling, and more specifically, to methods for producing a high protein corn meal from a whole stillage byproduct produced in a corn dry-milling process for making ethanol and a system therefore. In one embodiment, a method for producing a high protein corn meal from a whole stillage byproduct includes, in a corn dry-milling process for making ethanol, separating the whole stillage byproduct into an insoluble solids portion and a thin stillage portion. The thin stillage portion is separated into a protein portion and a water soluble solids portion. Next, the protein portion is dewatered then dried to define a high protein corn meal that includes at least 40 wt % protein on a dry basis.
2-DODECYL-6-METHOXYCYCLOHEXA-2,5-DIENE-1,4-DIONE AS A CANCER THERAPEUTIC
2-Dodecyl-6-methoxycyclohexa-2,5-diene-1,4-dione (DMDD), as well as variants, derivatives, analogs, modifications, and conjugates thereof, are identified as therapeutic agents for treating or preventing human cancers and precancerous conditions. DMDD can be isolated from the root of Averrhoa carambola L., commonly known as starfruit. Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical compositions, as well as dietary supplements, are provided, as are methods of administration and treatment.
NUT AND NON-DAIRY COMPONENTS HAVING REDUCED TRACE ELEMENT CONTENT, COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING THEM AND PROCESSES FOR THEIR PRODUCTION
The invention provides non-dairy, plant-based components, having reduced trace element contents, food products and nutritional compositions comprising them and methods for their preparation.
DAIRY SUBSTITUTES PRODUCED IN PLANT-BASED SYSTEMS AND METHOD THEREOF
The present invention provides plant-based dairy substitutes and methods thereof. Those substitutes may be a cheese substitute, a yogurt substitute, a coffee creamer substitute and more. The present invention discloses a plant cell culture, preferably, carrot cells, which expresses transgenic casein proteins. This unique casein-expressing culture is then transformed into a slurry, which serves as the platform for the production of the plant-based dairy substitutes. Furthermore, those dairy substitutes are highly nutritious, as they contain beneficial ingredients derived from the plant cells (such as beta-carotene) in addition to high protein (casein) content. The application of carrot cell slurry containing casein proteins to those dairy substitutes provides organoleptic and physicochemical properties enhanced or similar to conventional dairy products. The carrot cells expressing casein proteins can be conserved in a powder form, as the plant cells successfully encapsulate the casein proteins, thus protecting them from physicochemical conditions, such as spray drying.
SEALED EDIBLE CONTAINER FILLED WITH FREE FLOWABLE POWDER FOOD INGREDIENT
The present invention relates to a food product such as a snack comprising at least one sealed edible hollow container filled with free flowable edible solids; wherein the container is configured to release the edible solids in order to be consumed in its present form or reconstituted with a liquid. The present invention also relates to a process of making such a snack. For instance the snack is a cereal-based biscuit filled with an instant coffee powder.
