Power plant methods and apparatus
A hybrid power plant system including a gas turbine system and a coal fired boiler system inputs high oxygen content gas turbine flue gas into the coal fired boiler system, said gas turbine flue gas also including carbon dioxide that is desired to be captured rather than released to the atmosphere. Oxygen in the gas turbine flue gas is consumed in the coal fired boiler, resulting in relatively low oxygen content boiler flue gas stream to be processed. Carbon dioxide, originally included in the gas turbine flue gas, is subsequently captured by the post combustion capture apparatus of the coal fired boiler system, along with carbon diode generated by the burning of coal. The supply of gas turbine flue gas which is input into the boiler system is controlled using dampers and/or fans by a controller based on an oxygen sensor measurement and one or more flow rate measurements.
PURGING DEVICE, ROBOT SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME AND PURGING METHOD
A purging device configured to purge a container defining a periphery of a pressurized explosion-proof structure by supplying protective gas into the container is provided. A purge controlling module controls a flow rate adjusting device to supply the protective gas into the container to purge during a purging period including at least two main periods and at least one sub period. The main period and the sub period are set alternately on a time axis. A maximum supply flow rate per unit time during the sub period is at or below 10% of a maximum supply flow rate per unit time during the last main period, and at or below 10% of a maximum supply flow rate per unit time during the next main period.
BURNER FOR GENERATING A FLAME FOR THE COMBUSTION OF PROCESS GAS AND EXHAUST GAS TREATMENT DEVICE WITH A BURNER
The invention relates to a burner as well as to a waste gas treatment device for generating a flame for the combustion of process gas, especially of contaminants, in a combustion chamber, in each case having feed lines for a fuel gas and for an oxidizing agent so that they flow into a pre-mixing chamber, and having an ignition device for igniting the gas mixture contained in the pre-mixing chamber. According to the invention, a sensor for detecting and/or monitoring the flame is provided on the burner, especially at one end of the burner situated opposite from the pre-mixing chamber.
System and method for combustion of non-gaseous fuels and derivatives thereof
The present disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods that are useful for one or more aspects of a power production plant. More particularly, the disclosure relates to combustor apparatuses and methods for a combustor adapted to utilize different fuel mixtures derived from gasification of a solid fuel. Combustion of the different fuel mixtures within the combustor can be facilitated by arranging elements of the combustor controlled so that a defined set of combustion characteristics remains substantially constant across a range of different fuel mixtures.
REDUNDANT SYSTEMS FOR VEHICLE CRITICAL SYSTEMS
Redundant electrochemical systems and methods for vehicles are described. The systems include a first electrochemical device located at a first position on the vehicle wherein the first electrochemical device is configured to generate at least one of inert gas, oxygen, and electrical power and a second electrochemical device located at a second position on the vehicle wherein the second electrochemical device is configured to generate at least one of inert gas, oxygen, and electrical power. The first electrochemical device is configured to operate in a first mode during normal operation of the vehicle and a second mode when the second electrochemical device fails, wherein in the second mode, the first electrochemical device provides the at least one of inert gas, oxygen, and electrical power for at least one vehicle critical system of the vehicle.
Effluent gas treatment apparatus and method
A treatment apparatus for treating an effluent gas includes a combustion chamber; a burner; an inlet for receiving secondary combustion air; an exhaust gas outlet for outputting exhaust gases from the combustion chamber; and a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is configured to exchange heat between a first fluid and a second fluid flowing through respective first and second fluid flow paths. The first fluid flow path is connected to the inlet and the second fluid flow path is connected to the outlet such that the exhaust gases received at the outlet flow into the second fluid flow path. The heat exchanger comprises a fluid flow communication path for providing a path for flow of a portion of the exhaust gases from the second fluid into the first fluid; and at least one inlet aperture for inputting the first fluid to the combustion chamber.
BURNER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SYNTHESIS GAS
A burner for producing synthesis gas by partial oxidation of liquid or gaseous, carbon-containing fuels in the presence of an oxygen-containing oxidant and a moderator, which burner can be operated uncooled, i.e. without a fluid coolant being passed through the burner, is proposed. Steam or carbon dioxide or else mixtures of these materials are used as moderator. This is achieved by the feed channels being configured so that mixing of the fuel, the moderator and the oxidant occurs only outside the burner.

METHOD OF PRODUCING SOOT
A method of producing soot, including: combusting a first fuel stream and a first oxidizer at a burner face; combusting a second fuel stream and a second oxidizer at the burner face, wherein the second fuel stream and the second oxidizer are premixed in advance of the burner face and a second equivalence ratio of the second fuel stream and the second oxidizer is less than about 1; and combusting a silicon-containing fuel into a plurality of soot particles, wherein the second fuel stream and the second oxidizer are combusted between the first fuel stream and the silicon-containing fuel. Applying this method of producing soot to deposit a preform suitable for the manufacture of optical fibers.
GAS TURBINE COMBUSTOR
A combustor of an embodiment includes: a cylindrical combustor liner; and a fuel nozzle which is provided at one end of the combustor liner and jets a fuel and an oxidant into the combustor liner. The fuel nozzle includes: a plurality of fuel supply passages which each supply the fuel; and a plurality of oxidant supply passages which each supply the oxidant. Flow rates of the fuel supplied to the respective fuel supply passages and flow rates of the oxidant supplied to the respective oxidant supply passages are each individually regulated.
