Process and Apparatus for Oxygen Injection in a Sulfur Furnace

A process for oxidizing a sulfur stream includes supplying at least one sulfur stream into a furnace; supplying oxygen-enriched combustion air into the furnace; separately supplying pure oxygen into the furnace; and at least partially oxidizing the at least one sulfur stream in the furnace. A related apparatus is also provided and includes a furnace; an inlet for supplying at least one sulfur stream into the furnace; an inlet for supplying a stream of an oxygen-enriched combustion air into the furnace; and an inlet for supplying a pure oxygen stream into the furnace separately from the supplying of the oxygen-enriched combustion air.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMBUSTION SYSTEM CONTROL

A combustion system includes a combustion chamber, a plurality of fuel introduction locations in the combustion chamber where fuel and air are provided to the combustion chamber for combustion, a fluid flow control device associated with each fuel introduction location, each fluid flow control device being controllable to vary an amount of the air supplied to each fuel introduction location, a plurality of sensing devices configured to monitor a plurality of operational parameters of the combustion system, and a control unit configured to control each fluid flow control device to control the amount of air supplied at each fuel introduction location independent of the amount of air supplied at the other fuel introduction locations, and to control the amount of air provided to all other air introduction locations, in dependence upon at least one of the plurality of operational parameters to minimize excess air provided to the combustion chamber.

CRYOGENIC AIR SEPARATION METHOD FOR PRODUCING OXYGEN AT HIGH PRESSURES
20180073804 · 2018-03-15 ·

The present invention relates to a cryogenic air separation process that provides high pressure oxygen for an oxy-fired combustion of a fuel (e.g., a carbonaceous fuel). The air separation process can be directly integrated into a closed cycle power production process utilizing a working fluid, such as CO.sub.2. Beneficially, the air separation process can eliminate the need for inter-cooling between air compression stages and rather provide for recycling the adiabatic heat of compression into a process step in further methods wherein an additional heat supply is beneficial.

Signal responsive well test burner

A well test burner system includes a plurality of burner nozzles. At least one of the burner nozzles includes a well product inlet, an air inlet, an air/well product mixture outlet, and an automatic valve. The automatic valve is responsive to a remote signal to cease flow of well product to the air/well product outlet.

Methods and Systems for Controlling the Products of Combustion

The present invention relates to methods and systems for controlling a combustion reaction and the products thereof. One embodiment includes a combustion control system having an oxygen supply stream and a high concentration carbon dioxide stream, mixing the streams to form an oxygenation stream substantially comprising oxygen and CO2 and having an oxygen to CO2 ratio, then mixing the oxygenation stream with a combustion fuel stream and combusting in a combustor to generate a combustion products stream having a temperature detected by a temperature sensor, the data from which is used to control the flow a carbon dioxide diluent stream to produce a desired temperature of combustion. The system may also include a control system configured to regulate the flow of the oxygen supply stream based on the flow rate and composition of the combustion fuel stream. The system may also include a gas turbine with an expander and having a load and a load controller in a feedback arrangement. Other embodiments include a hydrocarbon analyzer and multiple fuel streams that may be combined to form the combustion fuel stream.

Combustion apparatus

A combustion apparatus comprising: a combustion chamber; a primary fuel input conduit for supplying a fuel to the combustion chamber; a secondary input conduit for supplying a combustion gas to the combustion chamber; and combustion gas supply means, wherein the combustion gas supply means is adapted to switchably supply one of air and an oxygen rich gas to at least the secondary input conduit.

Process and apparatus for acid regeneration

A process and apparatus for regenerating a spent acid stream or other stream, such as a spent acid stream or other stream containing sulfur, by decomposing the spent sulfuric acid stream and/or other sulfur-containing streams to recover sulfur dioxide from the stream. Also provided is a process for preparing sulfuric acid from the sulfur dioxide recovered by the apparatus and process.

Systems and methods for operation of a flexible fuel combustor

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods that are useful for controlling one or more aspects of a power production plant. More particularly, the disclosure relates to power production plants and methods of carrying out a power production method utilizing different fuel chemistries. Combustion of the different fuel mixtures can be controlled so that a defined set of combustion characteristics remains substantially constant across a range of different fuel chemistries.
