Energy And Environmental Optimisation Of A Facility Comprising At Least One Combustion Apparatus With Burner
20220057084 · 2022-02-24 · ·

The invention concerns a system for energy and environmental optimisation of a facility comprising at least one combustion apparatus (1) with a burner (3). The system comprises an electrolyser (2) and an injection system (4) connected to at least one fuel (3a) and/or oxidant (3b) inlet of the burner (3). The injection system is capable of injecting, at such an inlet, gases from the electrolyser (2) and/or a mixture of these gases and a combustible fluid and/or an oxidising fluid. The electrolyser (2) and/or the injection system (2) are controlled on the basis of at least one piece of information originating from the combustion apparatus (1) and/or sensors (6x) of the installation. The electrolyser can comprise a heat exchanger (2a) for cooling the device and/or preheating the water (EP) that is intended to then be heated (EC) by the combustion apparatus (1).

Control system and method for a solid fuel combustion appliance
09803862 · 2017-10-31 · ·

A control system for a solid fuel combustion appliance, e.g., a wood burning stove, includes a temperature sensor for sensing an output temperature of the appliance. A controller receives the output temperature and controls a damper associated with air flow through the stove to maintain a predetermined temperature. The system also includes a detector that senses certain conditions of the solid fuel, e.g., wood, that is burned by the stove. When additional fuel is added to the appliance, the system temporarily encourages initial combustion of the new fuel, before returning to maintaining the predetermined temperature.

Metallic burner tiles

The present disclosure seeks to provide a metallic burner tile for use in industrial processes such as cracking. The tile is substantially metallic (e.g. more than 80%) with the balance being ceramic coating on surfaces exposed to high temperature. The tile is lighter and more durable than the current ceramic burners.

Method for electronically regulating a combustible mixture, for example gas fed to a burner
09784448 · 2017-10-10 · ·

A method for regulating the combustible mixture such as air/gas, air/methane gas or the like fed to a burner, the method including measuring a flame signal correlated with the composition of the mixture fed by feed members controlled by a combustion controller arranged to regulate the combustion on the basis of the flame signal. During burner operation the mixture feed conditions are modified within a narrow time interval to obtain a flame signal variation; a ratio between values of this the flame signal at the end and at the beginning of the interval is compared with a predetermined reference value; and, on the basis of the deviation of this ratio from the reference value, the flame set point is regulated, as consequently is the air or gas of the mixture if this is rendered necessary.

System and method for low load operation of coal mill
09746179 · 2017-08-29 · ·

Disclosed herein is a coal fed power generation system comprising a mill in fluid communication with a furnace; where the mill is operative to pulverize coal and to ventilate the coal; where the furnace contains more than one burner or burner nozzles; where the burner or burner nozzles are operative to receive the coal from the mill and combust it in the furnace; and a plurality of flow control devices; where at least one flow control device is in fluid communication with the mill and with the burner or burner nozzle; and where the flow control device that is in fluid communication with the mill and with the burners or burner nozzles is closed to prevent fluid communication between the mill and the furnace during the operation of the furnace.

Modulating burner with venturi damper

A modulating burner apparatus includes a burner and a blower placed upstream of the burner. A venturi is placed upstream of the blower. A damper valve is placed upstream of the venturi. The damper valve has an open position and a restricted position. A smaller gas valve and a larger gas valve are communicated with the venturi. A controller is operably associated with the system to select a position of the damper valve and to select the appropriate one of the gas valves so as to provide a low output operation mode and a high output operation mode, which in combination provide an overall turndown ratio of at least 25:1.
