METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MONITORING BURNER FLAME CONDITIONS IN A FURNACE
Systems and methods for using at least one sensor for monitoring a condition in a furnace are disclosed. The at least one sensor can be an optical fiber acoustic sensor. The at least one sensor can be coupled to at least one processor that can be configured to receive at least one measurement from the sensor, convert the at least one measurement into a digital format, and determine a condition associated with at least one burner based at least in part on the digital format. The digital format can be, for example, a sound waveform or a frequency spectrum.
EMISSION MONITORING OF FLARE SYSTEMS
Systems and methods for monitoring emissions of a combusted gas are provided. The method includes determining a first net heating value of a flare gas. The method also includes determining a second net heating value of a combustion gas including the flare gas. The second net heating value can be determined based upon the first net heating value and a volumetric flow rate of the flare gas. Based upon the value of the second net heating value, an empirical model or a non-parametric machine learning model can be selected. A combustion efficiency of the combustion gas can be determined using the selected model, the second net heating value, and selected ones of the process conditions and the environmental conditions. Total emissions of the combustion mixture can be further determined from the combustion efficiency and a volumetric flow rate of the combustion gas.
Remote monitoring of fired heaters
A chemical plant may include one or more fired heaters for heating of process streams. A fired heater may include a direct-fired heat exchanger that uses the hot gases of combustion to raise the temperature of a process fluid feed flowing through tubes positioned within the heater. Fired heaters may deliver feed at a predetermined temperature to the next stage of the reaction process or perform reactions such as thermal cracking. Systems and methods are disclosed to optimize the performance of fired heaters or reduce energy consumption of fired heaters.
Portable flue gas analyser
A flue gas analyser for determining the efficiency of a burner burning a supply gas and producing a flue gas by: calculating an efficiency of the burner based on a detected amount of a first target gas in the flue gas and an expected amount of the first target gas in the flue gas; predicting an amount of a second target gas in the flue gas based on the efficiency of the burner; estimating a composition of the supply gas based on a detected amount of the second target gas in the flue gas and the predicted amount of the second target gas in the flue gas; and correcting the calculated efficiency of the burner based on the estimated composition of the supply gas.
Control system for an intermittent pilot water heater
A water heater control system comprising an energy storage system electrically connected to a pilot valve operator and electrically isolated from a main valve operator. The energy storage system may be electrically connected to an ignition circuit. A thermoelectric device is in thermal communication with the pilot flame and electrically connected to a main valve operator. The water heater system may include a microcontroller configured to establish electrical communications between the device and the energy storage system, the pilot valve operator, and the main valve operator. The microcontroller may be configured to recognize a call for main burner operation, and may also be configured to check an available voltage of the energy storage system against a setpoint. The microcontroller may establish pilot flame operation with or without main burner operation, depending on whether a call for heat or recharging of the energy storage system is required.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING AN INTERMITTENT PILOT WATER HEATER SYSTEM
A water heater may include a water tank, a burner, a pilot for igniting the burner, an ignitor for igniting the pilot, a thermoelectric device in thermal communication with a flame of the pilot, a controller for controlling an ignition sequence of the pilot using the ignitor, and a rechargeable power storage device for supplying power to the ignitor and the controller. The rechargeable power storage device may be rechargeable using the energy produced by the thermoelectric device. The controller is configured to selectively ran only the pilot for at least pan of a heating cycle to increase the recharge lime of the rechargeable power storage device while still healing the water in the water heater.
Water Heater Operation Monitoring and Notification
A water heater monitoring and notification method includes determining that an intake pressure switch of a combustion system of a water heater or an exhaust pressure switch of the combustion system of the water heater is open and shutting down a blower of the combustion system in response to the intake pressure switch or the exhaust pressure switch being open.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING OPERATION OF A FURNACE SYSTEM
A furnace system of a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a burner assembly having a burner enclosure configured to receive a fuel for ignition to generate heated combustion byproducts. The furnace system also includes a controller configured to detect a value associated with a wave signal transmitted through the burner enclosure and operate the furnace system based on a comparison between the value and a threshold value.
