Bike system for use in rehabilitation of a patient
A system for use in rehabilitation of a target patient is provided. The system includes at least two bicycle devices for use by the target patient and a second operator other than the target patient. The at least two bicycle devices each include pedals. At least one of the pedals may have at least one sensor mounted thereon for monitoring operation of the first bicycle device and the target's condition. A servomotor is coupled to the pedals for providing gear-like resistance or pedal assistance for the at least two bicycle devices. A controller is programmed to electrically couple the at least two bicycle devices to each other.
Dual balance exercise apparatus
A weight resistance exercise machine having cable and pulley linkage assemblies attached to a single weight stack. Each cable and pulley linkage assembly, which is independent of the other(s), can be used by one arm or leg during bilateral exercise training (that is, training in which both limbs of a pair are used to simultaneously to lift a weight). A tilt platform and biofeedback assembly display and measure in real-time how much each limb of a pair is contributing to such lifting effort.
HOCKEY TRAINING APPARATUS
A hockey training apparatus may comprise a backrest that may be interchangeable with a seat. The backrest may support the back of a user during use. A harness may comprising one or two straps connected to the backrest and be used to encircle the waist of the user. The user may pedal and practice puck stickhandling techniques that include moving the puck in front of the frame between a right side and a left side of the hockey training apparatus. The frame of the hockey training apparatus may comprise a back section in contact with a floor and a backrest tube for mounting and supporting a backrest post of the adjustable backrest. The frame may also have a middle section for mounting and supporting the crankset, pedals and axle and a front section in contact with the floor, but preferably without any handles or other structures in front of the user that would interfere with side to side movement of a hockey stick by the user.
Exercise system
An exercise system for combining video game play with physical exercise includes an exercise machine that has a pair of handles. A gaming console is attached to the exercise machine. The gaming console is positioned on the handles such that the gaming console is accessible while the exercise machine is utilized. The gaming console stores electronic video games thereby facilitating video game play while exercising.
Systems and methods for coordinating musculoskeletal and cardiovascular or cerebrovascular hemodynamics
Described herein are methods for determining a target musculoskeletal activity cycle (MSKC) to cardiac cycle (CC) timing relationship. The method may include detecting a signal responsive to a cyclically-varying arterial blood flow at a location on a head of a user; providing a recurrent prompt at a frequency of the heart pump cycle using the signal, such that the signal correlates with a magnitude of blood flow adjacent to the location, and the recurrent prompt is provided to guide the user to time performance of a component of a rhythmic musculoskeletal activity with the recurrent prompt; and guiding the user to adjust a timing of the component of the rhythmic musculoskeletal activity to substantially maximize a magnitude of the signal. In some embodiments, the method further includes generating the recurrent prompt by amplifying the sound generated by the blood flow in or in proximity to an ear of the user.
A LOCOMOTION THERAPY AND REHABILITATION DEVICE
The invention according to the application relates to a locomotion therapy and rehabilitation device developed for patients whose locomotion function is either lost or declined due to spinal disorders, orthopaedic surgeries and central nervous system disorders to redevelop and improve their walking ability.
User interface on console for exercise machine
A console for an exercise machine has a console housing providing a user interface for controlling the exercise machine and a media rack removably attached to the console housing and having a shelf sized to support a media item. At least one touch input element is on the media rack and is operable to control an auxiliary device on the exercise machine.
EXERCISE DEVICE WITH ELLIPTICAL STEPPING MOTION
An exercise device includes a frame and a crank assembly. A pair of foot links each has a forward end, a rearward end, and a mid-portion. Each foot link has a crank attachment at the forward end that is connected the crank assembly. A foot receiving area is defined at the rearward end of each foot link. Each foot receiving area is longitudinally fixed with respect to the respective foot link and the mid portion of each foot link has a defined support location. The frame supports the support locations of the support links at a generally constant vertical height while allowing horizontal motion relative to the frame. The rearward length of the foot links is at least 1.5 times the forward length such that the foot receiving areas move in a path of travel having more vertical travel than horizontal travel.
MOTORIZED AIR WALKER AND SUSPENSION SYSTEM FOR PARALYZED PERSONS
A system for patient rehabilitation is disclosed. The system includes a first movable frame including an articulating bed, wherein the bed is configured to be selectively articulated to an inclined position, a suspension system, wherein the suspension system is disposed within the articulating bed and is selectively adjustable to accommodate varying patient height, a harness, wherein the harness is selectively engageable with the suspension system, wherein the harness is selectively adjustable to accommodate varying patient sizes, a second movable frame including a walker, wherein the walker includes a pair of legs and a motor, wherein approximation of the two movable frames permits the patient to easily utilize the walker from the bed. A method of using the system for patient rehabilitation is also disclosed.
