The purge gas tube is configured to feed a purge gas. The diffusion combustion fuel tube is fitted over the purge gas tube, and having an end provided with a diffusion combustion fuel swirler. The isolation gas tube is fitted over the diffusion combustion fuel tube. The premixed combustion fuel tube is fitted over the isolation gas tube. The premixed combustion air tube is fitted over the premixed combustion fuel tube. The combustion compartment is located downstream of the fuel nozzle.
COMBUSTION STAGING SYSTEM
A combustion staging system includes a splitting unit which receives a metered fuel flow and controllably splits the received fuel flow into pilot and mains flows. Pilot and mains fuel manifolds distribute fuel from the splitting unit to the pilot and mains stages. The splitting unit selects and deselects pilot-only operation. Both pilot and mains manifolds are selectable for pilot and mains operation. A cooling flow recirculation line has a delivery section arranged to provide a cooling flow of fuel to the mains manifold when it is deselected during pilot-only operation. Cooling flow enters the delivery section from a high pressure fuel zone of the engine and exits the return section to a low pressure fuel zone of the engine. A controller adjusts the splitting unit during pilot-only operation to partially select the mains manifold thereby increasing the pressure in the mains manifold to meet a target fuel pressure therein.
Impingement cooling dust pocket
A system may be provided that includes a hot section component of a gas turbine engine. The hot section component includes a dual wall, which includes a first wall and a second wall. The first wall includes multiple impingement cooling holes extending through the first wall. The second wall is positioned adjacent the first wall. The first wall and the second wall together define a cooling passage between the first wall and the second wall. Multiple pockets are in a surface of the second wall. Each of the pockets is positioned opposite a respective one of the impingement cooling holes. Each of the pockets is configured to receive a cooling fluid from the respective one of the impingement cooling holes and direct the cooling fluid into the cooling passage. The cooling passage includes a single cooling passage into which the pockets are configured to direct the cooling fluid.

A liquid fuel cartridge assembly for a gas turbine combustor comprising an elongated stem provided with a fuel injector tip at an aft end of said stem, said injector tip provided with a pilot fuel passage extending to a pilot fuel orifice; a plurality of air channels surrounding said pilot fuel passage and in communication with plural air holes; an annular main fuel passage surrounding said plurality of air channels and in communication with plural fuel exit holes; and a plurality of substantially radially oriented air supply holes in said stem upstream but proximate to a forward end of said tip in communication with said plurality of air channels.
BURNER FOR USE IN A STREAMING ENGINE
A burner adapted for use in a streaming engine, wherein the burner provides a combustion channel and a burner tip, wherein the burner tip provides at least one longitudinal cooling fin, and wherein the at least one longitudinal cooling fin provides a longitudinal direction helically circling the combustion channel.
Method for reducing fuel nozzle coking in a gas turbine engine
A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section, a combustor fluidly connected to the compressor section via a primary flowpath, a turbine section fluidly connected to the combustor via the primary flowpath, and a plurality of fuel injectors disposed within the combustor. The plurality of fuel injectors including at least one start fuel injector. Also included is a controller having a memory and processor. The memory stores instructions configured to cause the at least one start fuel injector to pulse fuel through the start injector nozzle, thereby preventing stagnant fuel in the start injector nozzle from exceed a coking temperature threshold.
