A rich-quench-lean combustor assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a fuel nozzle and a dome, the fuel nozzle attached to the dome. The combustor assembly additionally includes a liner attached to or formed integrally with the dome, the liner and the dome together defining at least in part a combustion chamber. Additionally, the liner extends between a forward end and an aft end. The liner includes a plurality of quench air jets positioned between the forward end and aft end and defines a forward section extending from the quench air jets to the dome. The dome and the forward section of the liner are configured to be cooled substantially by one or both of impingement cooling or convective cooling.

A rich-quench-lean combustor assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a liner extending between a forward end and an aft end. The liner includes a plurality of quench air jets positioned between the forward end and the aft end. The combustor assembly additionally includes a dome attached to or formed integrally with the liner, the dome and the liner together defining at least in part a combustion chamber. A fuel nozzle is attached to the dome, the fuel nozzle configured as a premix fuel nozzle for providing a substantially homogenous mixture of fuel and air to the combustion chamber, the mixture of fuel and air having an equivalence ratio of at least 1.5.

Self-cooled orifice structure

A self-cooled orifice structure that may be for a combustor of a gas turbine engine, and may further be a dilution hole structure, includes a hot side panel, a cold side panel spaced from the hot side panel, and a continuous inner wall extending between the hot and cold side panels and defining an orifice having a centerline and communicating axially through the hot and cold side panels. A plurality of end walls of the structure are in a cooling cavity that is defined in-part by the hot and cold side panels and the inner wall. Each end wall extends between and are engaged to the hot and cold side panels and are circumferentially spaced from the next adjacent end wall. A plurality of inlet apertures extend through the cold side panel and are in fluid communication with the cavity, and each one of the plurality of inlet apertures are proximate to a first side of a respective one of the plurality of end walls. A plurality of outlet apertures extend through the hot side panel and are in fluid communication with the cavity, and each one of the plurality of outlet apertures are associated with an opposite second side of a respective one of the plurality of end walls.

The described reverse flow combustor of a gas turbine engine includes inner and outer combustor liners defining a combustor chamber therewithin. A large exit duct and a small exit duct are disposed at downstream ends of the outer and inner liner respectively. The small exit duct includes an annular ring removably mounted to a support element of the gas turbine engine and includes a plurality of cooling elements integrally formed with the annular ring and projecting therefrom into impingement airflow. The cooling elements increase the effective surface area of the inner surface of the annular ring, which is adapted to be cooled by the impingement airflow.

A gas turbine engine component assembly is provided. The gas turbine engine component assembly, comprising: a first component having a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and a cooling hole extending from the second surface to the first surface through the first component; a second component having a first surface and a second surface, the first surface of the first component and the second surface of the second component defining a cooling channel therebetween in fluid communication with the cooling hole for cooling the second surface of the second component; and a particulate capture device attached to at least one of the first component and the second component, the particulate capture device configured to aerodynamically separate the airflow from the particulate.

COMBUSTION CHAMBER

A combustion chamber arrangement includes an annular outer and inner walls including at least one row of tiles. Each tile in the row of tiles has a rail extending towards and sealing with the outer wall and lip extending in a downstream direction from the row of tiles. The outer wall has a row of apertures to direct coolant onto the lips of the row of tiles. Each tile has a fastener positioned upstream of the rail and the fastener extends through a corresponding mounting aperture to secure the tile to the outer wall. The rail of each tile defines a plurality of slots with the outer wall and the slots are arranged in a region downstream of the corresponding fastener. None of the apertures in the row of apertures are in a region downstream of the tiles fastener. The arrangement reduces crack generation and propagation in the outer wall.

COMBUSTOR WITH DILUTION OPENINGS

A turbine engine and method for controlling nitrogen oxides present within a combustor of the turbine engine. The turbine engine having a compressor section, a combustion section, and a turbine section in serial flow arrangement along an engine centerline. The combustion section having a combustor liner having a first end, a second end, opposing the first end, and at least partially defining a combustion chamber extending between the first and second ends. A dome assembly is mounted to the combustor liner at the first end and defines a dome inlet of the combustion chamber. There are multiple sets of dilution holes including a first set of dilution holes provided in the combustor liner downstream from the dome inlet and a second set of dilution holes provided in the combustor liner between the first set of dilution holes and the dome inlet.

Gas turbine system with a transition duct having axially extending cooling channels

A gas turbine system (1) including a burner arrangement having a tubular combustion chamber (5), a turbine (6) and a transition duct (7) connecting the combustion chamber (5) and the turbine (6), wherein the transition duct (7) is provided with an axially extending cooling air channel (11). The transition duct (7) includes a plurality of axially extending cooling air channels, and wherein each cooling air channel (11) is provided with one single inlet (12) opened to the outside of the transition duct (7) and with one single outlet (12) opened to the inside of the transition duct (7).

A torch igniter for a combustor of a gas turbine engine includes an igniter body and an igniter head. The igniter body is disposed within a high-pressure case of a gas turbine engine and extends primarily along a first axis, and includes an annular wall and an outlet wall. The annular wall surrounds the first axis and defines a radial extent of a combustion chamber therewithin. The outlet wall is disposed at a downstream end of the annular wall, defines a downstream extent of the combustion chamber, and includes an outlet fluidly communicating between the combustion chamber and an interior of the combustor. The igniter head is removably attached to the igniter body at an upstream end of the annular wall, wherein the igniter head defines an upstream extent of the combustion chamber, and includes an ignition source and a fuel injector.

HEAT TRANSFER DEVICE, TURBOMACHINE CASING AND RELATED STORAGE MEDIUM

Various embodiments include a heat transfer device, a turbomachine casing and a related storage medium. In some cases, the device includes: a body having an outer surface and an inner cavity within the outer surface; at least one aperture extending through the body, the at least one aperture positioned to direct fluid from the inner cavity through the body to the outer surface; a first lip proximate a first end of the body, and a second lip proximate a second end of the body, the first lip and the second lip each extending radially outward from the outer surface relative to a direction of flow of the fluid through the inner cavity; and a plug coupled with the body, the plug for obstructing an end of the inner cavity, the plug positioned to redirect flow of the fluid from a first direction to a second, distinct direction.
