Fuel injector

A fuel injector for a combustor of a gas turbine engine is disclosed herein. The fuel injector includes a fuel stem assembly for receiving and distributing fuel and an injector head receiving fuel from the fuel stem assembly. The injector head can include an injector body, swirler vanes, a pilot assembly, passages, and fuel galleries. The pilot assembly can include pilot struts and a pilot tube. The swirler vanes and pilot struts can include passages to transport the pilot fuel from the fuel stem assembly to the pilot tube.

A combustor (36) for a gas turbine, the combustor (36) comprising a combustor axis (44) about which is arranged in flow sequence a radial swirler (40), a pre-chamber (42) and a combustion chamber (38). The radial swirler (40) comprises a base plate (45), an annular array of swirler vanes (46), defining swirler slots (47), arranged around the base plate (45), a main fuel injector (48A, 48B) for injecting a main fuel and a pilot fuel injector (50) for injecting a pilot fuel. The combustor comprises a premixer nozzle (70) located on the combustion chamber (38). The premixer nozzle (70) comprising a housing (78), an array of tubes (80) within the housing (78) and a first fuel gallery (72) for supplying a first fuel (83). Each tube (80) of the array of tubes (80) comprising an inlet (86), an outlet (88), a first aperture (90) and a second aperture (92). The first fuel gallery (72) is arranged to supply the first fuel (83) to the first aperture (90) and/or the second aperture (92). In use, air (34) is supplied to the combustor and a first portion of the air (34A) passes through the radial swirler (40) and a second portion of the air (34B) passes through the tubes (80) of the array of tubes (80) from inlet (86) to outlet (88) and mixes with the first fuel (83) that passes through the first aperture (90) and/or the second aperture (92).

Burner cooling structures

A burner includes a main body having an outer surface and at least partially defining an interior. The main body further includes an upstream end axially spaced from a downstream end. The outer surface includes a burner front face at the downstream end of the main body. An annular cooling air plenum is defined in the main body radially inwardly from the outer surface. A cooling air passage extends from the outer surface to the annular cooling air plenum. A plurality of cooling channels is circumferentially spaced apart from one another along the burner front face. Each cooling channel of the plurality of cooling channels extends from a respective inlet in fluid communication with the annular cooling air plenum to a respective outlet.

Gas turbine combustor and its operating method

A hydrogen content fuel can be stably ignited using a gaseous fuel that does not contain hydrogen and dispersibility of the hydrogen content fuel is enhanced. MULTITUBE PILOT INJECTOR HAVING A SPLIT AIRFLOW FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE

An injector for a combustor of a gas turbine engine is provided with a plurality of air/fuel mixing tubes divided into radially outer and radially inner subsets of air/fuel mixing tubes with a first fuel manifold in fluid communication with the radially outer subset of air/fuel mixing tubes and a second fuel manifold in fluid communication with the radially inner subset of air/fuel mixing tubes. Each of the air/fuel mixing tubes of the radially outer subset of air/fuel mixing tubes includes a substantially quadrilateral cross-sectional profile, and each of the air/fuel mixing tubes of the radially inner subset of air/fuel mixing tubes includes a substantially circular cross-sectional profile.

COMBUSTION CHAMBER COMPRISING SECONDARY INJECTION SYSTEMS, AND FUEL SUPPLY METHOD

A combustion chamber for an aircraft turbomachine includes an annular chamber end wall structure, an annular row of main injection systems mounted in the chamber end wall structure and configured to deliver a sheet of fuel, including a central recirculation region and a corner recirculation region around the central recirculation region, and secondary injection systems each configured to inject an additional flow of air and fuel directly into a corresponding corner recirculation region.

Gas turbine engine and combustor having air inlets and pilot burner

A combustor includes a circumferential main combustion chamber and a plurality of air inlets, the plurality of air inlets dispersing air into the circumferential main combustion chamber. The combustor also includes at least one swirl-stabilized pilot burner, which disperses combustion gases into the circumferential main combustion chamber. The air inlets and the swirl-stabilized pilot burner are aligned at least partially in a radial direction and at least partially in a circumferential direction.

FUEL NOZZLE STRUCTURE FOR AIR ASSIST INJECTION

A fuel nozzle apparatus includes: an outer body having an exterior surface and a plurality of openings in the exterior surface. An inner body is disposed inside the outer body, cooperating with the outer body to define an annular space. A main injection ring is disposed in the annular space and includes an array of fuel posts extending outward therefrom, each fuel post including a perimeter wall defining a lateral surface and a recessed floor. Each fuel post is aligned with one of the openings and separated from the opening by a perimeter gap defined between the opening and the lateral surface. A main fuel gallery extends within the main injection ring. The main injection ring includes plurality of main fuel orifices, each main fuel orifice communicating with the main fuel gallery and extending through one of the fuel posts.

Fuel nozzle structure for air assist injection

A fuel nozzle apparatus includes: an outer body having an exterior surface and a plurality of openings in the exterior surface. An inner body is disposed inside the outer body, cooperating with the outer body to define an annular space. A main injection ring is disposed in the annular space and includes an array of fuel posts extending outward therefrom, each fuel post including a perimeter wall defining a lateral surface and a recessed floor. Each fuel post is aligned with one of the openings and separated from the opening by a perimeter gap defined between the opening and the lateral surface. A main fuel gallery extends within the main injection ring. The main injection ring includes plurality of main fuel orifices, each main fuel orifice communicating with the main fuel gallery and extending through one of the fuel posts.

BURNER COOLING STRUCTURES

A burner includes a main body having an outer surface and at least partially defining an interior. The main body further includes an upstream end axially spaced from a downstream end. The outer surface includes a burner front face at the downstream end of the main body. An annular cooling air plenum is defined in the main body radially inwardly from the outer surface. A cooling air passage extends from the outer surface to the annular cooling air plenum. A plurality of cooling channels is circumferentially spaced apart from one another along the burner front face. Each cooling channel of the plurality of cooling channels extends from a respective inlet in fluid communication with the annular cooling air plenum to a respective outlet.
