A chimney starter booster has an air intake port and an air output port connected by internal ducting in the booster's housing. The air intake port is configured to accept a wireless fan blower. The fan blower supplies directed air through the ducting and out the air output port containing an air deflecting nozzle. A standard chimney starter sits on a top portion of the booster's housing, such that the directed air enters the bottom of the chimney starter to accelerate the burning of the charcoal.

A solid fuel burning device has at least one burn chamber wall, a burn chamber base, and an interior burn chamber. The burn chamber base is capable of supporting a combustible solid fuel thereon. At least one of the burn chamber walls is radially offset with respect to another of the burn chamber walls. At least two longitudinally extending air inlets are formed in the space between a first longitudinal edge of at least one of the burn chamber walls and a second longitudinal edge of another burn chamber wall. Each of the longitudinally extending air inlets tangentially directs an entry of air into the interior burn chamber to induce an interior swirl of air in the interior burn chamber. The interior swirl of air in the interior burn chamber causes a flame of a combusting solid fuel to swirl in the interior burn chamber.

A modular firestarter assembly. The modular firestarter assembly includes a number of modular components configured to be able to join to one another to form the firestarter assembly. The modular components can be broken down to save space. The modular firestarter assembly can be formed from a number of different combinations of the modular components to hold fuel sources and assist in starting a fire.

A system and method of igniting a coal air-fuel mixture, including a burner having a burner tube operable to carry a flowing mixture of fuel and air to a furnace for combustion therein and a first flow directing device disposed within the tube, operable to direct a first portion of the flowing fuel and air mixture to a location in the burner tube. The system also includes a laser igniter within the burner tube, the laser igniter including a laser tube having a first end with a laser light input and a second end with a light output, and a laser light source operably coupled to the laser light input. A solid-fuel cooker, such as a barbecue, oven, or smoker for outdoor use, comprising a body enclosing a fuel chamber configured to act as a firebox for combustion of solid fuel, such as wood, charcoal or briquettes. The fuel is supported within the chamber on a fuel support and a cooking zone is spaced above the fuel chamber for receiving food items to be cooked. The body comprises an outer shell forming an exterior housing of the cooker, and an inner shell encompassing the fuel chamber, wherein the inner shell is housed within the outer shell and is spaced from the outer shell to thermally isolate or insulate the fuel chamber from the exterior housing of the cooker.
