Aspects and features of a burner for a cooking appliance include a first plate defining flame ports arranged in flow-sharing groups around a periphery of a combustion surface and a second plate coextensive with the first plate. Each plate is contoured so that the plates define an annular void within the burner. The annular void is fluidly coupled to the flame ports. In some aspects, each flow-sharing group includes clusters of flame ports, with each cluster including flame ports of two different diameters. The plates can each be made using the same tool such as a die, stamp, or mold, and the burner can be sized and installed in a cooking appliance so that it extends to cover a large portion of a wall of the cooking cavity of the appliance.

HOT SURFACE IGNITERS FOR COOKTOPS

Hot surface igniter assemblies used in cooktops are shown and described. The hot surface igniters include a silicon nitride ceramic body with an embedded, resistive, heat-generating circuit. When energized, the circuit generates temperatures in excess of 2000° F. in under 4 seconds to ignite cooking gas such as natural gas. To prevent damage to the igniter during use or cleaning, an insulator assembly is provided which protects the distal end of the igniter ceramic body from damage while still exposing it to the cooking gas flow from the burner. In addition, a number of different terminal connection schemes for connecting the igniters to a power source are shown and described.

CONTROLLED SECONDARY AIR SUPPLY RANGE BURNER

A powered secondary air supply ranger burner and method thereof provide an efficient burner with improved heat transfer. An atmospheric range burner controls a burner flame by insulating the burner and supplying a secondary air to the burner. The secondary air concentrates a heating zone to a center of a cooking vessel to be heated by the burner flame. The secondary air also controls a size and a shape of the burner flame.

A cooking appliance has a multi-section cooking surface that is expandable to provide a larger depth cooking surface by slideably extending a moveable front burner section of the cooking surface. The cooking appliance includes a base section extending below the cooking surface, the base section providing structure and physical support for the cooking surface. The cooking appliance includes a multi-sectioned cooking surface having a stationary rear burner section and a movable front burner section. The stationary rear burner section includes at least one rear/back burner, and the moveable front burner section includes at least one front burner. The moveable front burner section translates/slides forward away from the stationary rear burner section to provide additional/larger separation spacing between the at least one rear burner and the at least one front burner. A block insert panel is inserted into the space created between the rear burner section and the extended front burner section.

Gas burner, gas burner assembly and domestic cooking appliance

A gas burner for a household cooking appliance includes a burner casing including a plurality of mixture outlet openings configured to guide out, during operation of the gas burner, a mixture of combustion gas and primary air into an area surrounding the gas burner for producing a burner flame. A mixture distribution chamber evenly distributes the mixture of combustion gas and primary air to the mixture outlet openings. Fluidly connected with the mixture distribution chamber is a storage chamber for storing, during operation of the gas burner, part of the mixture of combustion gas and primary air. The storage chamber includes an ignition flame opening configured to guide out the mixture of combustion gas and primary air that is stored in the storage chamber into the surrounding area for producing an ignition flame.

Conveyor oven air system

A conveyor oven for cooking food and having an oven chamber in which food is cooked; a conveyor moveable to convey food within the oven chamber; a burner assembly operable to emit a flame to heat air for cooking food moving within the oven chamber on the conveyor; a burner tube extending into a compartment and positioned to receive at least a portion of the flame emitted by the burner assembly; and one or more passive tubes in the compartment positioned opposite the burner tube, wherein elongated baffles are located between adjacent passive tubes, wherein a baffle plate is located between the burner and passive tubes to restrict airflow from the burner tube to the passive tube, and/or wherein shelf assemblies in the oven enable movement (and in some cases removal) of a shelf with a corresponding fan and/or motor without disturbing other shelves and their corresponding fans and/or motors.

Cooktop appliance with modular griddle system

A cooktop appliance includes a panel with a first burner disposed on the panel and a second burner spaced apart from the first burner on the panel. A frame of the cooktop appliance is removably mounted to the panel. The frame is configured to selectively support two or more grates or a griddle plate over the first burner and the second burner. The cooktop appliance may include a first pogo pin terminal block positioned on the panel adjacent to the first burner and a second pogo pin terminal block positioned on the panel adjacent to the second burner. The frame may include a first sleeve which encloses first connectors of the first pogo pin terminal block and a second sleeve which encloses second connectors of the second pogo pin terminal block on four sides. The griddle plate or the grates may include two or more embedded temperature sensors.

An oven appliance includes a cabinet having a front portion spaced apart from a back portion and a left side spaced apart from a right side. The oven appliance also includes a cooktop defined on a top panel of the cabinet. A levelling leg extends through the cabinet from a levelling foot below the cabinet to an adjustment screw below the top panel. The oven appliance further includes a trough positioned below the top panel of the cabinet and above the adjustment screw. The trough includes an aperture located directly above the adjustment screw. The oven appliance further includes a resilient plug configured to be received in the aperture such that the resilient plug sealingly engages the aperture.

Gas burner

A gas burner includes a base with a first body and a raised annular band on an upper surface of the first body. A flange is formed about an outer periphery of the first body wherein the raised annular band and the flange define a first annular recess therebetween. A first notch is formed in a lower surface of the first body and extends through the flange and communicates with the first annular recess. The first notch is adapted to accommodate spark ignitor therein. A slot is formed in the raised annular band. A first cap includes a peripheral side wall having a distal end dimensioned to be received within the first annular recess. A gap between the distal end and a bottom wall of the first annular recess when the first cap is received therein provides fluid communication between the slot and the first notch.
