Bluetooth enabled ball analyzer and locator
11452919 · 2022-09-27 · ·

A golf ball with embedded electronics to allow proximity to be tracked and to monitor golfer performance is disclosed. The golf ball comprises a processor connected to an accelerometer, communications circuitry, a spin detector, and memory, wherein the processor stores accelerometer data from the accelerometer and rotation data regarding rotation of the spin detector in the memory. The processor converts the data regarding the rotation of the spin detector into a rotation speed and a rotation direction, said rotation speed determined by a frequency of the data, and said rotation direction determined by a magnitude of the data. The communications circuitry is configured to communicate the accelerometer data, the rotation direction, and the rotation speed to a central interrogator for analysis of a golfer's performance.

Embodiments provide apparatuses, systems, and methods associated with a location-aware autonomous self-propelled sports ball. The sports ball may detect its location relative to one or more locator tags and control its self-propelled movement based on the detected location. The locator tags may be worn by respective users of the sports ball and/or placed on the ground. The sports ball may operate in different modes that control movement of the sports ball relative to the one or more locator tags, such as tag, chase, auto-return, side-to-side, and race. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Systems and Methods for Locating Arrows

In one aspect, an example system includes an arrow nock configured to couple to an arrow, a transmitter coupled to the arrow nock, and a controller. The controller is configured to (i) determine that the arrow has been shot from a bow and (ii) responsive to determining that the arrow has been shot from the bow, cause the transmitter to transmit a beacon signal at a variable rate that varies based on an amount of time elapsed since determining that the arrow has been shot from the bow.

A sports ball and player position reckoning system, comprising instrumentation in either a sports ball on on a player's person that allows one or more players to be electronically located on a playing field or court each time a goal attempt is made. The instrumentation is configured to either fit through the opening of an inflation port of the ball when the fill valve is removed or attached to a player or a piece of player's clothing. The system works in conjunction with a performance monitor system that detects ball interactions with a goal and is used to trigger the system to analyze the ball flight path just prior to the goal interaction. Player position is ascertained through the localization of the initial position of the player at the start of a ball's flight path.

Method and apparatus for precise determination of a position of a target on a surface

A method and apparatus for determining the precise location of a target on a surface by utilizing a plurality of objects that are fixed in their position proximate to the location, thereby constituting a plurality of fixed reference points, upon which the target(s) resides or is otherwise located. The plurality of fixed references points are used either in conjunction with images of the target or certain distance measurements between the target and the fixed reference points to determine the precise location of the target(s) on the surface.
