10610757 · 2020-04-07 · ·

Methods and apparatus related to improving player performance for trajectory-based sports are described. In particular, sporting devices are described that can be utilized to improve player performance in basketball. The sporting devices can include a camera-based system configured to capture and analyze the trajectory of a shot taken by a player. The camera-based system can be configured to provide feedback that allows a player to optimize the trajectory mechanics associated with shooting a basketball. In one embodiment, the camera-based system can be used in conjunction with a training aid that is attached to a basketball rim. The training aid can be configured to improve the trajectory mechanics of individuals utilizing the modified basketball rim to practice their shooting.

Sports ball with sensors and transmitter

A sports ball for communicating to an external electronic device various parameters related to an impact with a sporting implement, such as a golf club. The sports ball comprises an outer resilient shell within that is contained a resilient core. An electronic circuit comprises at least one sensor, a transmitter, optionally a light-emitting diode, and a power source. The electronic circuit is cushioned from the impact of the sporting implement by the resilient core. The electronic circuit is adapted for communicating sensor data to the external electronic device via the transmitter. The at least one sensor is taken from the group of sensors comprising: a GPS receiver, a multi-axis accelerometer, an orientation sensor, an altitude sensor, and a microphone. The transmitter may be an RFID chip that passively transfers data from the at least one sensor and a unique ID number of the sports ball.

GOLF AID INCLUDING HEADS UP DISPLAY FOR GREEN READING
20200078653 · 2020-03-12 · ·

An electronic golf aid system for assisting users with reading greens on golf courses includes a camera that captures images of the user's field of view, and an electronic display device with a display screen that displays captured images. A processor, which communicates with the camera and display device, is programmed to: receive signals from the camera indicative of images of a golf ball and a cup on the green; determine respective locations for the golf ball and cup; determine a perspective view of the topology of the green between the golf ball and cup from the user's point of view; determine, based on the green's topology, a proposed trajectory line from the golf ball's location to the cup's location; and direct the electronic display device to display the proposed trajectory line superimposed on the surface of the green as the green is shown in real-time on the display screen.

FIND IT MAP SYSTEM AND METHOD
20200070000 · 2020-03-05 ·

A find it map system including: a server including a processor; and a memory in communication with the processor; the memory having a database comprising at least data related to positioning and tracking of a game ball; and a device capable of accessing GPS and including a user-interface configured to enable communication with the server via a software application. The device and software is useful for golfers.

Electronic tracking system with heads up display
10576354 · 2020-03-03 · ·

An electronic tracking system for assisting a user in determining distances to landmarks and objects in a sporting environment includes a user tracking system for determining the location of a user, a heads up display for displaying information to the user, and a processor operable to communicate with the user tracking system and the heads up display. The heads up display is designed to be worn on the user's head, and to display an image within the user's field of view. The processor is programmed to determine a distance between the user's determined location and an object or a landmark on. This information is displayed via the heads up display as a numeric representation of the determined distance.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRECISE DETERMINATION OF A POSITION OF A TARGET ON A SURFACE

A method and apparatus for determining the precise location of a target on a surface by utilizing a plurality of objects that are fixed in their position proximate to the location, thereby constituting a plurality of fixed reference points, upon which the target(s) resides or is otherwise located. The plurality of fixed references points are used either in conjunction with images of the target or certain distance measurements between the target and the fixed reference points to determine the precise location of the target(s) on the surface.

Dual matrix tracking system and method

A dual matrix tracking apparatus, system, and method are described herein. The dual matrix tracking apparatus may be implemented at a driving range to facilitate skill-based games, wagering games, and the combination thereof. The dual matrix tracking apparatus includes a first shadow sensor array, a second shadow sensor array, and a control unit. The dual matrix tracking apparatus senses a first projectile position within the first shadow sensor array and associates a first time with the first position. The dual matrix tracking apparatus further senses a second projectile position within the second shadow sensor array and associates a second time with the second position. The control unit then determines a predicted ball flight path from the first ball position, the second ball position, the first time, and the second time.

Method and system for detecting a state of a golf club
10537768 · 2020-01-21 ·

A method for detecting a lost club includes detecting an orientation characteristic of a golf club with a detection unit, transmitting the orientation characteristic from the detection unit to a mobile device, determining a distance between the golf club and the mobile device based on a signal transmitted from the detection unit to the mobile device and determining a lost club state based on the orientation characteristic of the golf club and the distance between the golf club and the mobile device.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LOCATING ARROWS

In one aspect, an example system includes an arrow nock configured to couple to an arrow, a transmitter coupled to the arrow nock, and a controller. The controller is configured to (i) determine that the arrow has been shot from a bow and (ii) responsive to determining that the arrow has been shot from the bow, cause the transmitter to transmit a beacon signal at a variable rate that varies based on an amount of time elapsed since determining that the arrow has been shot from the bow.

Golf Ball Range Finder
