Oven appliance with turntable
An oven appliance includes a cabinet that defines a vertical direction. A chamber is defined within the cabinet for receipt of food items for cooking. A rack is slidably received within the chamber above a bottom wall of the chamber along the vertical direction. A turntable is rotatably mounted on the rack. The oven appliance also includes a telescopic shaft positioned and configured to extend and retract along the vertical direction between an engaged position wherein the shaft engages the turntable to rotate the turntable and a disengaged position wherein the shaft is spaced apart from the turntable along the vertical direction.
Cooking Appliance and Method for Limiting Cooking Utensil Temperatures Using Dual Control Modes
Cooking appliances and methods for operating cooking appliances are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method for operating a cooking appliance is provided. The method includes providing power to the heating source according to a first control mode; determining whether to transition from the first control mode to a second control mode and, if so, then providing power to the heating source according to the second control mode. The method further includes determining whether to transition to the first control mode and, if so, then returning to providing power to the heating source according to the first control mode. The cooking appliances and methods include features for limiting cooking utensil temperatures using dual control modes.
Cooktop assembly
A cooktop for a cooking appliance includes a cooking panel that has a first edge. A support feature is coupled to the cooking panel proximate the first edge. The cooking panel is disposed on the support feature. The support feature and the cooking panel define a cavity. A human-machine interface is coupled to an underside of the cooking panel. The human-machine interface is disposed within the cavity and adjacent to the support feature. A magnet assembly is coupled to the cooking panel and the human-machine interface. The magnet assembly is configured to retain the human-machine interface in a selected position on the underside of the cooking panel.

The method includes providing power to the heating source according to a first control mode; determining whether to transition from the first control mode to a second control mode and, if so, then providing power to the heating source according to the second control mode. The method further includes determining whether to transition from the second control mode to a third control mode and, if so, then providing power to the heating source according to the third control mode. The cooking appliances and methods include features for limiting cooking utensil temperatures using time-to-target criteria.
CONTROL KNOB WITH OPTICAL SHAFT ENCODER AND VISUAL FEEDBACK OF ANGULAR POSITION
A control knob assembly for a consumer appliance is provided. The control knob assembly provides a compact means for determining the angular position of the control knob and illuminating a plurality of indicators to communicate that angular position to a user of the appliance. More specifically, the control knob assembly includes an optical encoder disc that defines a plurality of teeth that are in operable communication with a plurality of optical sensors. The position of the sensors and the spacing of the plurality of teeth are configured to generate signals as the control knob is rotated that allow for the precise determination of the angular position of the control knob. Moreover, the optical encoder disc may fit inside a lighting assembly and may have a low profile, resulting in a compact control knob assembly that may easily fit within the area underneath the control knob and control panel.
METHOD FOR OPERATING A COOKING DEVICE WITH AN AUTOMATIC DOOR OPENING FUNCTION, AND COOKING DEVICE
In a method for operating a cooking appliance, a preparation program of the cooking appliance is carried out when preparing an item to be cooked in a cooking chamber of the cooking appliance, while a door of the cooking appliance closes the cooking chamber. The door is automatically opened by a door opening device of the cooking appliance when an end time of the preparation program is reached, and the door is maintained in an open state for a time period determined before opening and/or a time period permanently defined before opening.
Electro-mechanical energy regulator providing enhanced simmer performance
An electro-mechanical energy regulator for controlling an application of power supplied to a heating element of a cooking appliance that provides simmer operation is provided. The temperature and/or mode of operation is made via a user interface knob that is coupled to a switching control cam. This cam has an outer profile configured to drive a switching element via a power switch cam follower to close two power line contacts to power a heater. The heater drives a bimetal element whose deflection forces a temperature control switching element to close to enable power to flow to the heating element. The regulator also includes a cooking mode selector operable to open and close a pair of electrical contacts coupled in series with the heating element, and a diode coupled in parallel with the pair of electrical contacts.
