A training script device is described that conveniently allows a user to create a training script defining one or more steps of a workout routine, where each step may include an activity, a duration for performing that activity, and an intensity at which the activity is to be performed. Further, one or more steps of the training script can be self-starting in response to performance data detected by sensors of training script device executing the training script. This conveniently frees the athlete from having to continuously monitor the status of his or her workout activities. Still further, the training script device conveniently allows a user to transfer training scripts to other training script devices, so that athletes can share successful training scripts.

A stair and slide assembly includes a stair portion including a plurality of stairs, a slide portion including a slide with an entrance and an exit, and an assist bar positioned proximate the exit of the slide to assist a user with pivoting from the exit of the slide to the stair portion. The slide has a first portion extending substantially linearly from the entrance of the slide at an angle and a second portion extending from the first portion to the exit of the slide. The second portion transitions the slide from the angle of the first portion to substantially horizontal. The exit of the slide is configured to be positioned at a target height above a ground surface. The target height is between about 18 inches and about 30 inches.

The sensor device is arranged to sense the degree of performed physical exercise at least partly by sensing a degree of motion of the flywheel.

Systems and methods for controlling a self-paced treadmill using predicted subject velocity

Systems and methods are provided for enabling a split belt treadmill having two belts to self-pace. A feedback process estimates a first current step speed for a user on each belt by measuring stride length and step duration. A feed-forward process estimates a second current step speed for the user on each belt by measuring three forces and three moment components associated with foot contact with the belt. A command speed for each belt is produced by combining the first and second current step speeds with a Kalman filter. A belt speed associated with each belt is adjusted based upon the command speed.

An exercise management and reporting system includes a weightlifting rack having a plurality of vertical members. Each of the vertical members include bar support brackets for receiving a barbell and weighted plate combination. Tracking sensors are positioned along the vertical members to track the movement of the barbell during an exercise. A control unit having a memory and wireless transmitter are provided along the rack. Weight sensors are positioned within each of the bar support brackets, and a wireless accelerometer is positioned along the barbell. The system also includes an exercise management application that receives the exercise data from the control unit and recommends and adjusts exercise workouts based on the received exercise data for each system user.

A method for gait retraining of a runner includes: measuring acceleration data of at least one lower leg of the runner; diagnosing the acceleration data thereby determining a measure of the impact intensity of at least one external tibial shock; and providing real-time feedback to the runner by converting the measure of the impact intensity into distortion of music to a level which is perceived by the runner as a measure for the impact intensity. The conversion is done based on a predefined relationship between perceived distortion levels and imposed distortion levels, and the runner can reduce the distortion of the music by adjusting his or her gait.

In particular, sporting devices are described that can be utilized to improve player performance in basketball. The sporting devices can include a camera-based system configured to capture and analyze the trajectory of a shot taken by a player. The camera-based system can be configured to provide feedback that allows a player to optimize the trajectory mechanics associated with shooting a basketball. In one embodiment, the camera-based system can be used in conjunction with a training aid that is attached to a basketball rim. The training aid can be configured to improve the trajectory mechanics of individuals utilizing the modified basketball rim to practice their shooting.

In an embodiment, a portable fitness monitoring method includes a method for providing audible output to a user during an athletic activity using a portable fitness monitoring device. The method includes the steps of receiving an audio feedback file package that includes a first audio feedback file, updating the audio feedback file package, and processing the updated audio feedback file package to provide audible output to the user through an audio output device during the athletic activity.
