An adapter device and/or a thermostat device for use during installation and testing of in-floor heating systems. The adapter device allows for temporary electrical interconnection between a mat and an AC power source, and includes at least one switch configured to actuate based on a user-supplied force (e.g., a finger press) to temporarily electrically couple the mat to an AC power source. The at least one switch is further configured to automatically de-actuate in the absence of the user-supplied force to electrically decouple the mat from the AC power source. The thermostat device includes at least one integrated power measurement circuit for testing and diagnostics of an in-floor heating system.

A system and method for improving the responsiveness of forced hot water heat exchangers placed around the baseboards of conditioned living spaces and improving the efficiently of centralized hot water heating systems. The control system may comprise a convector baseboard heat exchanger or a replacement heat exchanger cover, and a blower, a diffuser and sensors which are mounted to one or more of the baseboard heat exchangers, the heating system influent and effluent loops, the fuel supply and the recirculation pump. When the heating system and forced hot water loop reaches its operating temperature, the blower activates to rapidly transfer energy from the-forced hot water loop into the air and disperse treated, heated air into the conditioned spaces. After the centralized heating system turns off, the system continues to transfer energy from the forced hot water into the air of the conditioned spaces until the latent heat of the centralized heating system has been extracted and the return loop temperatures are at levels consistent with optimal boiler performance.

The VRF system can provide heating or cooling of air in different rooms or zones within a building or home while also providing heating or cooling of water. In response to a demand for heating or cooling at each terminal, the VRF system can vary the supply of refrigerant to each terminal, such that efficient and precise temperature regulation of air and liquid can be provided.

Methods and related systems for operating a furnace are disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes activating a burner assembly and a first fan of the furnace to combust fuel and air and circulate combustion gases along a flow path extending through a heat exchanger of the furnace. In addition, the method includes operating a second fan of the furnace to circulate air across an external surface of the heat exchanger of the furnace and produce a conditioned airflow. Further, the method includes monitoring one or more parameters of a motor of the second fan indicative of an airflow rate of the conditioned airflow, and deactivating the burner assembly, whereby combustion of the fuel and air in the furnace ceases, in response to the one or more parameters indicating that the airflow rate is less than a minimum airflow rate.
