HEAT EXCHANGE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE ALTERNATION AND REDUNDANCY BETWEEN HEAT EXCHANGERS THEREIN
20200408423 · 2020-12-31 ·

The heat exchange system is for heating water from a water source and comprises first and second flooded heat exchangers that have steam sides that are each independently fed with steam, but water sides that are serially fed with water through the first heat exchanger then through the second heat exchanger. The system also comprises first and second control valves located at or downstream of subcooled condensate outlets of the first and second heat exchangers, first and second water temperature sensors at or downstream of the heated water outlets of the first and second heat exchangers, and a control device for receiving temperature data from the first and second water temperature sensors and for controlling the first and second control valves. The proportions of the first and second steam sides that are flooded are respectively selectively adjusted by controlling the debit of condensate allowed through the first and second subcooled condensate outlets with the first and second control valves, for allowing heat exchange to the water to be adjusted as a result of the water temperature measured by the first and second water temperature sensors. The first and second control valves are set in one of a first state in which they are both at least partly opened to allow effective heat exchange from the steam to the water in both first and second heat exchangers, and a second state in which one of them is closed while the other is at least partly opened to have an effective heat exchange from the steam to the water in only one of the first or second heat exchangers while the first and second steam sides remain both supplied with steam.

WIRELESS ACTUATOR UNIT WITH A THERMOSTAT STAND

Embodiments are disclosed of a radiator temperature control apparatus for controlling the heat output of a radiator. The radiator temperature control apparatus may include an airtight enclosure around the air outlet of the radiator air vent, an adjustable opening in the airtight enclosure controlled by an actuator, and a controller connected to the actuator. In operation, the controller can be configured to open the adjustable opening in the airtight enclosure allowing air in the radiator to be expelled through the adjustable opening, thereby allowing steam to enter the radiator, and heat the room. The controller can be configured to close the adjustable opening, stopping air from being expelled from the radiator, thereby stopping additional steam from entering the radiator.

The present invention provides a method of operating a gas heater for water including the steps of: restricting a water flow to the gas heater; determining a first rate of a first gas heating for the restricted water flow; adjusting the gas heating to the restricted water flow; repeating the previous steps until a heated water has a temperature above a temperature threshold; removing the restriction to the water flow to increase the water flow; and determining a second rate of a second gas heating for the increased water flow. The present invention also provides a gas water heater which utilises such a method.

Sabbath controller for a hot water tank
10876742 · 2020-12-29 ·

A water heating control system has a tank for holding a volume of water heated by a heater and having a hot water outlet and a cold water inlet connected to a main water supply whereby hot water removed from the hot water outlet is replenished with cold water. A temperature sensor provides a temperature signal indicative of water temperature in the tank, and a control unit monitors the water temperature based on the temperature signal and is responsive to selection of a Sabbath mode of operation for periodically actuating and de-actuating the heater while maintaining an average water temperature to less than a permitted preset threshold. In Sabbath mode the control unit closes a shut off valve connected to the water inlet when the heater is actuated and opens the shut off valve when the heater is not actuated.
