Tool and method for cleaning and draining a water heater
11920830 · 2024-03-05 ·

A tool and method clean and drain a water heater tank, removing water and sediment from the tank. An insert tube fits through the hot water outlet port to reach the bottom of the tank interior. A fitting connects the insert tube to a hose extending down the outside of the tank to the floor/ground to a drain or container that is lower than the bottom of the tank interior. After priming the tool by using the cold water inlet flow to fill the tool with water and sediment, the cold water inlet is disconnected from the water heater, venting the tank so that water and sediment are siphoned out of the tank through the tool to empty the tank. The tool and method work without unplugging or disconnecting a clogged water heater drain line, without using a compressor or pump, and without creating a wet, messy environment.

An air gap floor drain is disclosed which may provide an air gap between a floor drain aperture and one or more device drain conduits producing drain effluent. An example air gap floor drain includes a first funnel. A lid on the first funnel has one or more ports to accept the device drain conduits. A second funnel is stacked under the first funnel so that the drain effluent from the device drain conduits entering the first funnel through one or more ports passes down through the second funnel before flowing from the second funnel down into the floor drain aperture.

HEAT EXCHANGER AND WATER HEATER INCLUDING SAME

A heat exchanger includes a plurality of serpentine or U-shaped first heat transfer tubes disposed in a case and formed by connecting a plurality of straight tube body portions, which are arranged at intervals in an up-down height direction so as to extend in a horizontal direction, in series via a first connecting tube body portion, upper side and lower side header portions connected to respective end portions of the plurality of first heat transfer tubes, and a second heat transfer tube disposed in the case so that upper side and lower side end portions thereof are connected respectively to the upper side and lower side header portions and configured such that an intermediate region, which excludes at least the respective end portions and a region of an uppermost portion that is adjacent to the upper side end portion, is constituted by tube body portions that are tilted over the entire length thereof so as to gradually decrease in height from one end side toward another end side of the intermediate region. As a result, a malfunction in which a hot water supply operation becomes difficult due to freezing of the heat transfer tubes can be prevented appropriately.

Condensate neutralizer device

A condensate neutralizer device for treating a condensate flow, the condensate neutralizer device includes a compartment adapted to receive condensate neutralizing materials therein, the compartment having an inlet end and an outlet end, a plurality of apertures disposed only on a bottom surface of each of the inlet end and the outlet end of the compartment. The compartment is configured to receive the condensate flow traversing upwardly through the plurality of apertures at the inlet end in a direction from the inlet end to the outlet end through the condensate neutralizing materials before allowing a treated flow of the condensate flow to traverse downwardly through the plurality of apertures at the outlet end to exit the compartment as an effluent.

Leak detection sensor assemblies for water heaters

A water heater includes a leak detection system. The leak detection system includes a leak sensor assembly that is disposed in a bottom pan of the water heater. The leak sensor assembly includes a sensor housing that has a sensor channel that is formed therein such that the sensor channel is disposed at an elevation from a base of the bottom pan when the sensor housing is disposed on the base of the bottom pan. Further, the leak sensor assembly includes a leak sensor that is disposed in the sensor channel of the sensor housing. The leak sensor detects water that leaks from the water heater and accumulates in the bottom pan when a level of the water in the bottom pan rises to the elevation of the sensor channel and the leak sensor that is disposed therein.

Induced draft fan and gas furnace comprising the same

An induced draft fan, including a volute including a chamber and an air discharge pipe; and a wind wheel disposed in the chamber of the volute. The wind wheel is connected to and operationally driven by a rotation shaft of a motor. The air discharge pipe is disposed on one side of the volute, and includes an inner pipe and an outer pipe surrounding the inner pipe. The inner pipe of the air discharge pipe communicates with the chamber, to form an air discharge passage. An annular groove is disposed between the inner pipe and the outer pipe; and the outer end of the outer pipe is provided with a curved groove, the curved groove extends axially and circumferentially to divide the outer pipe into a fixed part and a flexible part.
