Heaters

A heater for heating liquid to boiling comprises a heating element (48; 106), a first heating region (18, 20; 100) heated by said heating element (48; 106) for heating liquid flowing therethrough to a temperature below boiling, and a second heating region (22; 102) for heating said liquid to boiling. The second region permits the exit of steam therefrom separately from heated water.

Convectively controlled adiabatic column chamber for use in chromatographic systems

A column-conditioning enclosure includes a column chamber adapted to hold one or more chromatography separation columns. A duct system provides an airflow path around the column chamber such that the one or more chromatography separation columns held within the column chamber are isolated from the airflow path. An air mover disposed in the airflow path generates a flow of air within the duct system. A heat exchanger system disposed in the airflow path near the air to exchange heat with the air as the air flows past the heat exchanger system. The air circulates through the duct system around the column chamber, convectively exchanging heat with the column chamber to produce a thermally conditioned environment for the one or more chromatography separation columns held within the column chamber.

Door with a built-in burner for a heating appliance

A door with a gas burner on an inner surface and a system for carrying a combustible gas to the burner on the outer surface thereof. The door comprises a pair of metal sheets rigidly connected to one another at the edges thereof, each sheet having input and output openings for the gas mixture that are mutually separated in order to leave an inner space receiving a deflector plate serving as a thermal shield to be swept over on either side by the flow of the gas mixture supplying the burner. This arrangement reduces heat loss through the door; thus, keeping the outer surface cold, avoiding the risk of burns, and preheating the gas mixture. The invention can be used in heating appliances.

Fuel-fired heating appliance having improved burner assembly

A burner assembly for a fuel-fired heating appliance that defines a direction of flow of a fuel and air mixture in a flow path. The burner assembly comprises a plurality burners defined in a unitary mesh structure. Each burner defines at least one peak at a distal end thereof in a direction of flow of a fuel and air mixture. The burner assembly also comprises a diffuser plate having a plurality of perforated areas defined therein and one or more imperforate areas between respective perforated areas of the plurality of perforated areas. The perforated areas respectively correspond to the plurality of burners. The diffuser plate is disposed in a fixed position upstream of the mesh structure so that, when the burner assembly is disposed in the flow path, a respective flow of the fuel and air mixture is directed from each of the plurality of perforated areas to its corresponding burner of the plurality of burners.

Ceramic heater

An object of the present invention is to suppress adhesion of scale to a surface of a ceramic heater that is used for fluid heating. The ceramic heater has a ceramic body and a coating layer. The ceramic body has a heat generation resistor. The coating layer contains glass as a main component and is formed so as to coat a surface of the ceramic body. The coating layer has a function of smoothing the surface of the ceramic body.

A mobile heating device operated with liquid fuel is provided, having: a combustion chamber (2) comprising a combustion air inlet (3), wherein the combustion chamber adjacent to the combustion air inlet (3) comprises a widening portion (20) the cross-section of which widens with increasing distance from the combustion air inlet (3) and in which in operation combustion air and fuel are converted in a flaming combustion; a fuel supply which is arranged such that fuel is supplied into the widening portion (20); and an air guide device (6) being adapted to feed combustion air into the widening portion (20) with a flow component directed in the circumferential direction such that an axial recirculation region (RB) forms in the widening portion (20) in which gases flow in the direction towards the combustion air inlet (3) oppositely to a main flow direction (H). The combustion chamber (2) is fluidically sectioned into a primary combustion zone (PZ) and a secondary combustion zone (SZ). The primary combustion zone (PZ) comprises the widening portion (20) and the recirculation region (RB). The secondary combustion zone (SZ) is provided with a secondary combustion air inlet (23) in such a manner that a higher air-fuel ratio λ than in the primary combustion zone (PZ) forms in the secondary combustion zone (SZ).
