The refrigeration system further includes a condenser, an evaporator, and an electrochemical compressor in fluid communication with the condenser and the evaporator. The refrigeration system can further include various components which advantageously reduce the energy consumption and increase the predicatability and efficiency of the refrigeration system.

Intelligent compressor flooded start management
09791175 · 2017-10-17 · ·

A method is provided for managing a flooded start of a compressor in a vapor compression system. Following an initial bump start, a determination is made as to whether working fluid in a liquid state remains in the sump of the compressor. If working fluid in a liquid state remains in the compressor sump, an additional bump start of the compressor is completed, followed by another determination as to whether working fluid in a liquid state still remains in the compressor sump. If working fluid in a liquid state remains in the compressor sump, another bump start of the compressor is initiated and the sequence repeated until no working fluid in the liquid state remains in the compressor sump. A normal start of the compressor may be initiated after determining no working fluid in the liquid state remains in the compressor sump.

Temperature regulation apparatus and method

A heat pump water heater has a tank, a burner in communication with a fuel source, a flue, and a heat pump system. The heat pump system has a refrigerant path, at least a portion of which forms an evaporator in thermal communication with the flue. Another portion of the refrigerant path is in thermal communication with the water tank volume so that heat transfers from the refrigerant to the water tank volume.

A compression mechanism portion housed in a closed case is provided with a partition plate located between a first cylinder and a second cylinder. The compression mechanism includes a first bearing discharge port formed to a first bearing and a first partition plate discharge port formed to the partition plate as discharge ports for discharging working fluid compressed in a first cylinder chamber, and also includes, as discharge port for discharging working fluid compressed in a second cylinder chamber, a second bearing discharge port formed to a second bearing and a second partition plate discharge port formed to the partition plate. A cross-sectional area of the first partition plate discharge port is formed to be smaller than a cross-sectional area of the first bearing discharge port, and a cross-sectional area of the second partition plate discharge port is formed to be smaller than a cross-sectional area of the second bearing discharge port.

Refrigerator

A refrigerator includes a compressor compressing a refrigerant, a condenser condensing the refrigerant compressed in the compressor, a refrigerant tube guiding a flow of the refrigerant condensed in the condenser, an expansion device decompressing the refrigerant condensed in the condenser, and an evaporator evaporating the refrigerant decompressed in the expansion device. The evaporator includes an evaporation tube through which the refrigerant decompressed in the expansion device flows, a coupling tube through a refrigerant heat-exchanged with the refrigerant of the evaporator flows, and a heat-exchange fin coupled to the evaporation tube and the coupling tube.

Modular low charge hydrocarbon refrigeration system and method of operation

A modular refrigeration system includes a refrigeration loop having a compressor, a condenser, an expansion assembly, and a chiller interconnected by a first piping loop cycling hydrocarbon refrigerant. A high side cooling loop includes a first heat exchanger and a first pump interconnected with the condenser by a second piping loop cycling a cooling fluid, the cooling fluid exchanges heat with the hydrocarbon refrigerant at the condenser. A low side cooling loop includes a second heat exchanger and a second pump interconnected with the chiller by a third piping loop cycling a chilled fluid, the chilled fluid exchanges heat with the hydrocarbon refrigerant at the chiller. A space supports the second heat exchanger and is configured to be maintained within a predetermined temperature range, wherein the total charge of hydrocarbon refrigerant associated with the space does not exceed 150 grams.

Low charge packaged refrigeration system

A packaged, pumped liquid, recirculating refrigeration system with charges of 10 lbs or less of refrigerant per ton of refrigeration capacity. The compressor and related components are situated in a pre-packaged modular machine room, and in which the condenser is mounted on the machine room and the evaporator is close coupled to the pre-packaged modular machine room. Prior art large receiver vessels may be replaced with a single or dual phase cyclonic separator also housed in the pre-packaged modular machine room.

Heat pump device, air conditioner, and freezer that efficiently heats refrigerant on standby

A heat pump device includes a compressor including a compression mechanism that compresses a refrigerant and a motor that drives the compression mechanism, an inverter that applies a voltage for driving the motor, a converter that applies a voltage to the inverter, an inverter control unit that generates a driving signal for driving the inverter, and a converter control unit that generates a driving signal for driving the converter. The inverter control unit includes a heating-operation-mode control unit that controls a driving-signal generating unit such that the driving-signal generating unit outputs, as inverter driving signals, PWM signals for heating the compressor without rotationally driving the motor by feeding a high-frequency current that the motor cannot follow in a heating operation mode.
