20190293324 · 2019-09-26 ·

An electrochemical heat transfer device for a hot water tank utilizes an electrochemical hydrogen compressor to pump hydrogen into and out of a tank having a metal hydride forming alloy therein. The absorption of hydrogen by the metal hydride forming alloy is exothermic, produces heat, and the desorption of the hydrogen from the metal hydride forming alloy is endothermic and draws heat in. An electrochemical hydrogen compressor may be configured between to tanks and pump hydrogen back and forth to form a heat transfer device, such as a hot water heater. A heat transfer device may be coupled with the tank or may comprise the outer surface of the tank to transfer heat to an object or to the surroundings. A closed loop may be configured having two tanks and one or two electrochemical hydrogen compressors to pump the hydrogen in a loop around the system.

A heat exchanger incorporates a metal hydride heat exchanger and mitigates the fluid mixing process, and thus greatly improves the heat transfer efficiency and heat recovery processes. The metal hydride heat exchanger has a container for the metal hydride that has a large aspect ratio. A plurality of high aspect container for the metal hydride may be coupled with a manifold.

AN EXHAUST GAS FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM FOR A METAL HYDRIDE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT

An exhaust gas flow control system disclosed relates to the field of mechanical engineering. The system reduces exhaust gas back pressure exerted on an internal combustion engine and prevents excessive heat loss in a radiator. The system comprises a flow regulator connected to an outlet of a silencer and configured to selectively direct the flow of exhaust gases to a metal hydride heat pump and/or a tailpipe. The flow of exhaust gases is directed towards the metal hydride heat pump in case of increased cooling requirement in the vehicle, and to the tailpipe in case of no cooling requirement or maintenance of the metal hydride heat pump. In case of reduced cooling requirement, partial flow of exhaust gases is directed to the metal hydride heat pump and the remaining to the tailpipe. A diverter is configured within the flow regulator to selectively direct the flow of exhaust gases.

SOLID-GAS REACTION SUBSTANCE-FILLED REACTOR AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A solid-gas reaction substance-filled reactor includes a core part in which heat medium heat-transfer tubes and spacers are alternately stacked, a gas introduction/discharge part that communicates with opening ends of the spacers, and a heat medium introduction/discharge part that communicates with heat medium flow paths. Filled bodies including metallic foil bags and a solid-gas reaction substance filled in the bags are inserted into the spacers. At least the filled bodies and the heat medium heat-transfer tubes are brazed to each other. The solid-gas reaction substance-filled reactor is obtained by stacking the filled bodies with the solid-gas reaction substance filled into the metallic bags, the heat medium heat-transfer tubes, and the spacers in a predetermined order and then brazing them.
