Compressor Protection Against Liquid Slug
A liquid slug reduction and charge compensator device for use in air conditioning and heat pump systems includes a housing having a cavity. The housing includes an inlet port providing an entry path into the cavity and an outlet port providing an exit path from the cavity. The housing further includes a liquid line port providing a refrigerant pathway into and out of the cavity. The liquid slug reduction and charge compensator device further comprises a flash tube extending through the cavity and providing a passageway through the cavity such that a hot gas refrigerant that enters the cavity through the inlet port causes a liquid refrigerant that enters the flash tube to evaporate.

The present invention relates to an outdoor heat exchanger, and more particularly, to an outdoor heat exchanger including a variable baffle whose opening and closing are controlled according to a switching of cooling/heating modes of a vehicle heat pump system to easily change a refrigerant pass and reduce the number of refrigerant passes at the time of heating than at the time of cooling.

A cryocooler includes a displacer, a cylinder that forms an expansion space, a Scotch yoke mechanism configured to drive the displacer in a reciprocating manner, a first rod that extends from the Scotch yoke mechanism, a housing that includes an assist chamber, a rotary valve configured to switch between a state in which the expansion space and a discharge side of a compressor are connected and the assist chamber and a suction side of the compressor are connected and a state in which the expansion space and the suction side of the compressor are connected and the assist chamber and the discharge side of the compressor are connected, a motor configured to drive the Scotch yoke mechanism and the rotary valve, and an on-off valve configured to open and close a gas flow path through which the rotary valve and the assist chamber are connected.
REVERSIBLE ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE, AND AIR CONDITIONING UNIT HAVING SAME
A reversible electromagnetic valve and an air conditioning unit are provided. The reversible electromagnetic valve includes a valve body and a valve core assembly. A first communication port and a second communication port are respectively formed in two sides of the valve body provided with a valve cavity. The valve core assembly is capable of slidably moving in the valve cavity and includes a connecting rod, a slider unit and a piston unit. The slider unit and the piston unit are respectively connected to two ends of the connecting rod. The slider unit is arranged adjacent to the first communication port and the second communication port opposite to each other. The slider unit is configured to block both the first communication port and the second communication port and the piston unit is capable to be pushed to slide in the valve cavity.

A vapor compression system (20; 120; 220; 320) has: first (22A; 122A; 222A) and second (22B; 122B; 222B) compressors; first (40) and second (46) heat exchangers; and one or more expansion devices (52; 52A, 52B). Means (32A, 32B; 32A, 32B, 126A, 126B; 32A, 32B, 232A, 232B) are provided for switching the system between operation in first and second modes using the respective first and second compressors. In the first mode: the first compressor compresses refrigerant; the compressed refrigerant is cooled in the first heat exchanger; the cooled refrigerant is expanded in at least one of the one or more expansion devices; and the expanded refrigerant absorbs heat in the second heat exchanger. In the second mode: the second compressor compresses refrigerant; the compressed refrigerant is cooled in the second heat exchanger; the cooled refrigerant is expanded in at least one of the one or more expansion devices; and the expanded refrigerant absorbs heat in the first heat exchanger.
Heat pump system and regulating method thereof
A heat pump system comprises a compressor, a first heat exchanger, a second heat exchanger, a mode switching valve, a throttling element and a reservoir, wherein the throttling element is arranged on a flow path between the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger; and which further comprises a mode switching flow path in which a first flow path and a second flow path are arranged, the reservoir is arranged on the second flow path and each flow path is controllably opened or closed to realize different functional modes.

Provided is a refrigeration cycle apparatus including: a refrigeration cycle configured to circulate refrigerant; a heat exchanger unit configured to accommodate at least a heat exchanger of the refrigeration cycle; and a controller configured to control the heat exchanger unit, in which: the heat exchanger unit includes: an air-blowing fan; and a refrigerant detection unit configured to detect a concentration of leaked refrigerant and to output a detection signal to the controller; and the controller is configured to operate the air-blowing fan when detecting leakage of the refrigerant, and to stop the air-blowing fan triggered by becoming positive from negative of a temporal change of the concentration of the leaked refrigerant.
APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR MODULAR HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM
Modular heating and cooling systems may include one or more modules connected to a fluid input and fluid output. Conventional modular heating and cooling systems typically use a single fluid in the cooling, heating and source fluid loops due to the mixing of fluids in the system. According to an aspect there is provided a modular heating system comprising at least one heating and cooling apparatus. The apparatus comprises a first heat exchanger, a second heat exchanger and a third heat exchanger. The apparatus further comprises a refrigerant line system coupled to the first (e.g. cooling), second (e.g. heating) and third (e.g. source) heat exchangers and configurable for selectively directing refrigerant fluid through the heat exchanger to provide multiple modes of operation. The heating, cooling and source fluid loops may be separate and independent such that the fluids do not mix.
Heat Pump System with Multi-Way-Position Valve
A vehicle heat pump system including a thermal loop, an eight-way valve, and a controller is provided. The thermal loop includes a compressor, a first portion, and a second portion. The first portion includes an outside heat exchanger. The second portion includes a cabin heat exchanger. The eight-way valve is downstream of the compressor and has a first position in which refrigerant flows within the portions in a cooling mode and a second position in which refrigerant flows within the portions in a heating mode. The controller switches the eight-way valve between the first and second positions. The outside heat exchanger operates as a condenser in the cooling mode and the eight-way valve directs refrigerant flow from the outside heat exchanger to the cabin heat exchanger.
