A cooling apparatus includes a heat receiver that evaporates a low pressure heat transfer medium. The apparatus includes a compressor that compresses the evaporated heat transfer medium in a gas phase state, and a condenser that condenses the compressed heat transfer medium. The apparatus includes a receiver tank that receives and stores at least one of the heat transfer medium from any place in a flow path of the medium in the gas phase state that returns the medium to the heat receiver and the condensed medium in a liquid phase state. The apparatus includes an air storage tank that air separated from the heat transfer medium. The apparatus includes a liquid level controller that controls a liquid level in the receiver tank such that the heat transfer medium is stored in the receiver tank at a predetermined liquid level height.

These systems include a refrigerant receiver configured to store a refrigerant fluid, an evaporator, a closed-circuit refrigeration system having a closed fluid circuit path, with the refrigerant receiver and evaporator disposed in the closed fluid circuit path, and the closed fluid circuit path including a condenser and compressor. These systems also include a modulation capacity control circuit configured to selectively divert refrigerant vapor flow to the condenser from the compressor by diverting a portion of refrigerant vapor flow (diverted flow) from the compressor to the refrigerant receiver in accordance with cooling capacity demand. These systems also include an open-circuit refrigeration system having an open fluid circuit path with the refrigerant receiver and the evaporator, and an exhaust line that discharges the refrigerant fluid from the exhaust line so that the discharged refrigerant fluid is not returned to the open-circuit and the closed-circuit refrigerant fluid flow paths.

According to the technical solution provided by the present disclosure, double-temperature high-efficiency refrigeration is achieved, and the energy efficiency of the refrigeration system is improved.

The storage unit stores apparatus information regarding the refrigeration cycle apparatus that has been additionally filled with refrigerant and the additional filling amount of the refrigeration cycle apparatus identified with the apparatus information in association with each other. The useful-information creation unit creates useful information to be used in management of the amount of refrigerant based on the additional filling amount of one of the refrigeration cycle apparatuses and the additional filling amount of another of the refrigeration cycle apparatuses.

Modulator for an ice maker

An icemaker appliance includes a cabinet. A refrigeration system includes a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device, and an evaporator. The refrigeration system is charged with a refrigerant. The refrigeration system further includes a modulator having a reservoir and a supply conduit. The reservoir of the modulator is positioned on an outlet conduit of the evaporator. A first end portion of the supply conduit is coupled to an inlet conduit of the evaporator, and a second end portion of the supply conduit is coupled to the reservoir of the modulator. The refrigerant is flowable into and out of the reservoir of the modulator through the supply conduit of the modulator. An ice maker is positioned within the cabinet. The evaporator of the refrigeration system is coupled to the icemaker such that the refrigeration system is operable to chill the icemaker.

Method and apparatus for balanced fluid distribution in multi-compressor systems

A compressor system includes at least two compressors. A suction equalizing tube fluidly couples the at least two compressors. A plumbing assembly fluidly couples to the first compressor and the second compressor. The plumbing assembly comprises an outlet to each compressor of the at least two compressors. A pressure differential between the at least two compressors is created so as to facilitate maintenance of a desired fluid level in the at least two compressors.

The method also includes controlling flow of refrigerant between the medium temperature suction group and the low temperature suction group via a controller communicatively coupled to the valve, and modulating the valve at any position between a closed position and a full open position to vary an amount of refrigerant flow between the medium temperature suction group and the low temperature suction group in response to determining, via the controller, one or both of a state of the medium temperature suction group and a state of the low temperature suction group.
