Racquet flex control device
An improved racquet handle, such as for a tennis or racquetball racquet, comprised of a flex control device that enables a user to adjust the flexibility of the racquet handle. The increased flexibility of the racquet handle enables a user to impart greater force on a ball, such as a tennis ball, and also dampens or reduces the amount of vibration and/or shock otherwise imparted to the racquet user when the racquet strikes the ball. The flex control device of the present invention is comprised of a fixed insert portion and an interchangeable, removable insert that enables a user to control the amount of the flexibility of the racquet.

Variable stiffness striking implement
A variable stiffness striking implement, such as, for example, a ball bat typically used in baseball, softball, or rubber ball. The striking implement, preferably has a separate barrel and handle. A wedge and joint attached directly to the handle or indirectly to the handle using an interface portion engage the interior surface of the barrel. Most preferably, the wedge and joint are molded about the interface portion and a handle preform is then inserted into the intention of the interface portion and the handle is then molded. Wedge hardness is selectable and a stiffness member may also be employed. Stiffness member hardness may be selectable or may be adjustable by varied adjustment of a cap in relation to the barrel. Alternatively, the cap may not be adjustable in relation to the barrel so that a selected stiffness member hardness is fixed.

A ball game racket frame includes a head portion, a grip portion and a shaft portion which connects the grip portion and the head portion. The ball game racket frame is at least partially made of at least one layer of a plurality of fibers which are randomly orientated and intertwined within the layer. According to further aspects, a ball game racket includes the ball game racket frame according to any of the embodiments described herein and a string bed plane comprising a plurality of strings which are attached to at least a portion of the head portion of the ball game racket frame. The string bed plane provides at least one striking surface for striking a game ball. According to yet further aspects, a method for manufacturing a ball game racket frame is disclosed.
RACQUET CONFIGURED WITH INCREASED LATERAL FLEXIBILITY WITH RESPECT TO A LONGITUDINAL AXIS
A racquet including a frame including a head portion, a handle portion, and a throat portion. The head portion forms a hoop that defines a string bed plane. The head portion of the racquet being formed of a fiber composite material. When the racquet is tested under the racquet lateral bending test, the racquet has a lateral deflection of at least 6.5 mm when measured in a first direction that is parallel to the string bed plane and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. When the racquet is tested under a racquet forward/rearward bending test, the racquet has a forward/rearward deflection with respect to the longitudinal axis of less than 7.3 mm when measured in a direction that is perpendicular to the string bed plane and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.
